Noises Are Scarier In The Dark

Don't you think that things seem scarier when it is dark?  Well, I do.  It is dark at 5:30 a.m.  We took our morning walk and the wind was howling.  We walked down to Marie's place and their wind chimes were really making noise.  There is a tarp in the fenced area that we can't see, but we can hear it.  It was so loud this morning.  I sat down.  Yep, I sat down.  Mama asked if I was okay.  I stood up and she checked my feet.  We then started walking.  We always walk across a bridge to get to the other part of the campground.  I didn't want to go because they have wind chimes there.  Mama told me it would be okay, so we started across the bridge.  I just sat down.  Mama was concerned that I was hurt, so she said we could go home.  I was happy to be headed back to the safety of our home even if I didn't finish all of my business.  We went out after the sun came out and I was fine.  Mama finally figured out that when I sit down, I am scared and want to go home.  Thank goodness Mama is a fast learner.

Yesterday we had some excitement.  They are doing road construction just down the street from us.  It was really loud.  Then we heard what sounded like gushing water or a waterfall.  It was so loud.  A few minutes later, a Jimmy John's delivery driver stopped at our site. He told Mama that they hit a gas line.  He said the fire department was there.  Mama walked to the entrance and asked the workers if we were going to be evacuated and they said no.  We waited about 15 minutes and Mama decided it might be best for us to get away from the noise. We walked to the far end of the campground and spoke to a few people.  No one was really concerned, so we came home and sat inside. We could still hear the "waterfall" inside.   The road was closed where the break occurred, so a lot of people turned around in our parking lot.  Finally, two and half hours after the noise started, it ended.  It took another half hour for the police to leave.  Do you know what though?  Those workers worked late into the night and they made a ton of noise.  We went to bed at 10 p.m. and they were still making a lot of racket.  This is a residential area, so I'm sure there were a lot of people upset with them.

I bet you think the following pictures are of Scout trying to get off the couch.  Nope, she is waiting for Mama to say the magic word which is "ready".  It means our breakfast is "ready".  Mama tricked her and said "set, go".  Scout heard the word "go" and she got up.

Scout looking annoyed that the magic word hasn't been said.
We have been in a rut with getting treats lately.  This morning, we watched a few golf carts pass us and then one finally stopped.  He gave us treats!  Scout and I were so excited that we gave each other shoulder bumps on the way home.  It is like a high five for greyhounds.  Mama laughed at us.  BOL!

A Tour of AT&T Stadium AKA Cowboy Stadium

The Greyhound Companions auction is over and Mama won three items! We hope we didn't drive everyone crazy with our reminders but we wanted to help out as much as we could since the group helped me out in my time of need.

Saturday, the folks toured the AT&T Stadium here.  It is where the Dallas Cowboys play football. The Final Four will also be played there in April. The folks purchased the VIP tour which has a tour guide. You can also do a self-tour.  Mama thought the tour group would be small since online it only allowed for the sale of nine tickets per time slot.  Their group ended up being quite large since no one announced the 11:15 a.m. tour and all of those people joined the 11:30 tour which was the one the folks were in.  Mama estimated that there were about 50 people on the tour and some self-guided tour people joined in along the way.

The stadium took three years to build.  The estimated cost to build was $650 million, but the actual cost was $1.15 billion.  It has the world's largest column-free interior and the fourth largest high definition video screen.

Waiting for the tour to start, the folks sat in the stands.

Ford display with cool fountains.

College football display.

The helmet on the right is Mizzou which is a Missouri team.  They played in the Cotton Bowl this year. The helmets will stay here until next year.

Yep, they toured the locker room.

The photo and name of each cheerleader appears above her locker.

The locker room of the Dallas Cowboys.

Famous players have their photos above the lockers.

Press room.  It is larger than the one at the White House.

This is where the Cowboys enter the field.

The folks entered the field here.

Mama said the field was soft.  She put a knee down and said it wasn't bad at all.  BOL!  As you can see, people are allowed to throw footballs around on the field.  The folks enjoyed walking around the field.  I wish greyhounds were allowed to run on it.  Can you imagine?

The folks enjoyed the tour.  Mama felt a little disloyal to her St. Louis Rams' but Dad said it was okay since it was the Cowboys and they were icons at one time.  I think that is what he said.  :::shrugs shoulders:::

Bad Photos Of Scout Are More Fun Than Good Ones

Mama said it is not nice to always post bad photos of Scout even though they are funny. She said I should post some nice photos of her.  Sheesh!

There, I did it.  BOL!

We have been scoring treats almost every day.  One day, the treat man was on a riding lawnmower and Mama told us we were out of luck, but she was wrong.  He turned off the lawnmower and gave us a treat.  SCORE!  Mama says we are getting very spoiled.

Everyone seems to love the time change here.   It was almost like a party with all the people and dogs walking about the other night. We got a lot of loving and sniffed a lot of dogs.

We heard that they are going to start work on the dog park here today. We hope it is finished soon.

Time is running out on the auction we have been telling you about.  There are still some really good deals. Greyhound Companions On-line Auction

Oops! We Have Already Been To This Park

We had a nice weekend. Saturday, Dad took the Jeep in to have new brakes put on it.  He also wanted to have the air conditioner repaired.  Their first suggestion was to replace the whole thing for $1,200. Dad said no because they didn't want to take the time to figure out what was wrong, they just wanted to replace the whole thing. They then said they can charge it up and see if that works.  Dad is an AC guy and doesn't think that is the problem, so he left aggravated.  He wasn't exactly pleased with how they handled replacing the brakes, but we will just let that go.  BOL!

The folks then went to Babe's Chicken House for lunch.  There are no pictures which is sad because Mama said the place was really neat.  However, it was so dark inside that Mama's cell phone couldn't get any photos.  The place is decorated like a small town on the inside.  Diners have a choice of fried chicken, chicken fried steak, fried catfish or chicken tenders.  The sides are served family style and those include salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, corn and biscuits.  The sides are all you can eat.  Mama had fried chicken and she said it was half a chicken. Dad had the catfish.  They said the food was good.

After lunch, the folks went exploring. They stopped at a cool RV store, Camping World and Bass Pro Shop. They ate dinner at Uncle Buck's Steak House.  Mama said it was really good. The inside was pretty impressive with stonework and timbers.  She took photos, but they are on her cell phone and this computer doesn't like the cell phone. We are not doing well with showing you the neat places today, are we?  BOL!

Yesterday, the folks took us to Cedar Hill State Park.  Mama told Dad that she thought we had been there last year.  He said "No".  She said "I think we have."  He said "No".  Mama said "The website says there is a farm to explore. Where did we explore a farm? Was it in Chicago?" When we pulled in, Dad said "Yep, we have been here before."  BOL  Mama was bummed because she wanted to explore a new place.  We didn't care.  It all smelled new to us.  BOL!  Here is our post from last year when we explored Cedar Hill State Park.  The photos here are from yesterday.

There is an old farm to explore.

Lots of smells.

Scout really liked sniffing everything.

On our way to the duck pond. We are going to see DUCKS!

Stones tell us what tracks we are seeing.

Here we come ducks!

It is important to stay on the trail.

Get ready ducks!

What?  Where are the ducks?

Bummer, I wanted to see the ducks!
Look at this bird house!  It is huge!

It was a fun day!  We are tired and ready to head home.
The Greyhounds Companions online auction is still underway.  Prices are very affordable right now.  Check it out - auction.

We Should Have Kept Quiet

We shouldn't have said anything about having the treat man's schedule figured out because we haven't seen him the past two mornings.  Yesterday, we got a really late start and we didn't see him. Today, we got Mama out the door on time and he wasn't around. We think his Saturday schedule may be different.  Thursday, we ended up getting treats twice though, so I guess it is not so bad.  Actually, I ended up with three treats because Scout was picky.  She doesn't like biscuits, so I took her.  I actually had the biscuit in my mouth when the good treats came out.  The treat man said I needed to eat my other one first.  Nope, I was saving it.  Mama removed it from my mouth so that I could get the good treat.  She gave it back to me after I ate the good treat.  Waste not, want not, right?

This is another strange Saturday. Dad is getting new brakes put on the Jeep and hopefully getting our AC fixed.  We hope he makes it back home soon.

Tomorrow, we are planning on going to a state park.  It will be cloudy and in the 50's, so it will be nice for walking.

Mama added some bling to her motorcycle helmet. (It is a sticker. She didn't do the bling herself.)  Her purple problem is back.  Yep, she chose a purple butterfly.  She could have had pink, but no, she wanted purple.  I think she needs to admit that she really likes purple.  BOL!

The Greyhound Companions on-line auction is underway!  Check it out at Greyhound Companions On-Line Auction.  Did you notice that our photo is in the auction photo banner at the top of the page?  Yep, it is from when we did our graffiti at Cadillac Ranch last year.

If you are in the St. Louis area today or tomorrow, you can see some of the hounds from Greyhound Companions at the Home and Garden Show.  We wish we could be there because those hounds are getting lots of loving from visitors.

Greyhound Companions On-Line Auction Begins Today

Our greyhound group, Greyhound Companions, is holding their first ever on-line auction beginning today.  Remember how much they helped me when I had my surgery?  We may be on the road and far from home, but they are still there for us.  We love this group!

This is me after my surgery in 2011,
We looked through the auction items last night and Mama picked out what she hopes to win.  I bet there is something that will interest you too!

Won't you help the hounds?

Here is the link - Greyhound Companions On-Line Auction.  Bidding begins today at Noon central time and ends on March 15th at 7 pm central time.  Good luck!
