We Got Chicken Livers!

Our weekend was pretty good.  We got chicken livers!  I will tell you more about it later and show you some "food porn" as Gyeong calls it.  BOL!

On Saturday, the folks picked up the Jeep.  Dad said it was on vacation.  It had some gaskets replaced and it appears that the air conditioning is fixed.  We are all happy about that.  Scout and I were very happy to see the Jeep again.  The folks stopped at a Freddy's for lunch.  Mama has been wanting to try it.  It is a lot like Steak N Shake, but they serve custard.  They have fry sauce which appears to be very popular.  Mama said she liked the burger better than Steak N Shake.

Double Steak Burger With Cheese and Fries

Onion Rings
The folks planned on having Jack Stack BBQ for dinner, but when they arrived at 5 p.m. there were no parking spots and the line of people was around the building.  They decided to try Carrabba's Italian Grill.  It is a chain restaurant that they have been wanting to try.  Mama had a hard time deciding what she wanted.  The menu was not as good as she was expecting.

Appetizer: Calamari, Roasted Tomato Bruschette and Mozzarella Marinara

Dinner Salad with Creamy Parmesan dressing

Veal Marsala with Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Shrimp Pasta
The folks said their food was good.  Dad said his was pretty plain though.

Sunday was a rainy day.  The folks wanted to make a return visit to Stroud's.  They ate there the last time we were here.  They have the best chicken according to Dad.  This place is very popular, so Mama wanted to get there when they opened. They arrived 15 minutes early and people were already lining up.
Stroud's - The building was built in the 1800's
The folks were seated in the dining room on this visit.  Mama loved the view.  It would have been prettier without the rain though.

Dad ordered a half order of chicken livers for an appetizer.  He told Mama he ordered them for us.  Yep, we got the leftovers.

Chicken Livers!
Mama's salad. She said it was really good.

Mama ordered chicken. The sides include: mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans.  Dad had fries.

Cinnamon rolls are also included in the meal.
The folks ended up bringing home two bags of leftovers. The food is so good there!

Oh, if you are wondering, the hot water is fixed.  It wasn't really broke.  BOL!  The problem was the outdoor shower was turned on.  The shower itself was turned off, so no water was coming out but the faucet was turned on.  The funny thing is that Mama checked it because the hose was leaking. She tightened it. She was scared to turn the faucet too much because it is cheap.  She even told Dad she did that and he agreed it was cheap.  He turned it off before they left on Saturday, but he didn't realize that was the problem until he started thinking about it.  He got up from the sofa and tried the hot water and it worked.  BOL!  They took cool showers for a week!!!  BOL!

Mama says....

....that I have A.D.D. because I can't stay focused for longer than three seconds. (Dad says the same thing.)  I say she is wrong because if I see a squirrel, a cat or if I am chewing on a bully stick, I am focused. She says my blog yesterday showed that I can't stay focused.  BOL!   I think that Mama has her own problem.  I will explain.  The dog park here has seven chairs. Well, there were eight, but we think someone took one.  Anyway, there are two red, two green, two yellow and now just one blue.  It has bothered Mama since last year that they didn't have one of each color in each fenced area.  She said it just didn't look right.  She even thought about it while we were away.  BOL!  Well, she fixed it this week.

If she could find the missing blue chair, it would be perfect.  BOL!

I think that the rest of this post will be somewhat like the one yesterday.  It is just that I have several updates and they are not big enough for an entire post being dedicated to each one.

The folks picked up the Jeep yesterday and they drove it around until the AC quit working and they took it back.  Luckily, it was blowing warm air when the mechanic looked at it.  He said it is the compressor.  Dad isn't convinced that is the problem, but the mechanic says it is. We hope he is correct. Dad thinks it is just a switch.  I guess we will see tomorrow. We knew it would be hard to figure out because it works and then it stops and then it works.

Kansas City has been in the news this week.  Did you hear about the chimps getting loose from the Kansas City Zoo yesterday?  Yep, they did. They got them back by offering them food including chocolate malted balls.  We also have the highway shootings here.  We hope that person is caught before someone gets killed.

In January, Mama purchased the Rival Foldaway Skillet.  Here is the blog post about that.  Unfortunately, it is not holding up well and will probably be replaced soon.  Mama is so disappointed.  She thought this one would last, but things are now sticking in the circle area where the heat comes through.  It hasn't even lasted four months. Can anyone recommend a good electric skillet?  We use ours around 12 times a week.  Maybe it is just not possible for one to last when it is used that much.

We received a few comments about the hamburger in the dog park.  The manager said he was given two of them, so they were free.  We do enjoy running around it, but are happy that we have a larger park without one.

I wish this thing was real. Yum!

Joey, what are you doing in there?

I still fit!

It smells good!
The trees are starting to look pretty.  We may get 2" of rain on Sunday, so I bet that will help the leaves come out.

We saw a humane trap set out for the raccoon this morning. We haven't seen him since Monday.

This was another exhausting post to write.  BOL!

Spring Means Bugs

This post is going to be all over the place.  You have been warned.  BOL!

Our walk this morning was quite warm.  It was 60 and the bugs were out.  That is annoying!

It still looks like winter, but a few of the trees are showing signs of spring.

Scout wanted to play with me this morning, but I turned her down.

 She was sad.

When I was first adopted.  I was white.  Look at me now!  I think instead of being called UCME Bubba Sparks, it should have been UCME Bubba Specks.  BOL!

I am a speckled boy and no it is not dirt as Dad says it is.
Mama was contacted this week by a lady who has four greyhounds and who is going to start RVing.    You can follow her adventure at Greyt RV Adventures.  I bet some of you already know her.

Dad fixed our water leak, but now we don't have hot water.  Mama says the water is lukewarm most of the time, but you should have heard her scream this morning when it turned very cold during her shower.  BOL!

The Jeep is ready to be picked up but they couldn't find anything wrong with the air conditioner.

There is a sick raccoon in the campground.  We have seen it twice.  Mama told the manager and he tried to catch it, but it took off. We haven't seen it since.

I told you this post was going all over the place.  BOL!

A New Car?

The folks left Saturday morning in the Jeep, but came home in this:

It definitely is not hound friendly.  Its' seats are black and our hair will definitely show up.  It also only has a backseat and not an area for us to stretch out.  Scout and I demanded our Jeep back.  Mama said not to worry that this is just a rental while the Jeep has some much needed repairs performed.  The Jeep will be back as soon as Dad has time to take off work to pick it up.  We will keep the rental for the week and that will allow Mama time to get some things done. The car has Texas plates on it.  Isn't that funny?

Scout and I go hiking in the woods almost every day.  I think we only missed on day and that was due to rain.  It was pretty muddy one day, but we didn't care.

This is part of a hill that we have to climb to get to our trail.

Here I am pulling Mama and Scout up the hill.
Last week, they put a new well in the campground.  Boy, was that loud and it took them two days.  We were glad when they finished it.

Most of the campers here keep to themselves.  It is not nearly as friendly as the place in Arlington that we just left.  If we walked around 5 p.m. in Arlington, we would get stopped several times with people wanting to talk to us.  The workers here are nice, but they don't carry treats.  The manager did visit us while we were in the dog park and asked us if we wanted a hamburger in the large dog area.  Remember the hamburger?  (see below)  Mama told him that we prefer an area to run.  He said that makes sense to him, so no hamburger in the other fenced dog area.  :-)  Wow, someone listened to us!

Travel Days Can Be Interesting

Our trip back to the Midwest had a few memorable events. Our first stop was somewhere in Oklahoma.  We filled up our propane tank and our gas tank.  There was a five gallon bucket of windshield cleaner by our door. Scout somehow got her leash wrapped around the "mop" that was in the bucket and turned the entire bucket over.  Mama said we showed everyone why she calls us the "redneck kids".  BOL!  Scout was really scared after she did that.  We stopped for lunch in Oklahoma at a truck stop.  We were parked in our spot when a tractor trailer decided to drive past us.  We thought for sure he was going to hit us.  We all held our breath as he inched by us. We are not sure how he didn't take off our mirror and leave a scratch along our side.  We decided to leave there and found a better place for lunch.  BOL!

I think this was my first trip to Kansas.

We spent the night in Wichita, KS.  The RV park was right off the toll road.  We paid our toll to get off and Mama said "There is our turn?"  Dad said "Are you sure?"  It was so easy that we almost missed it.  The park didn't have a single tree.  They charge $54 a night which is outrageous. We used our Good Sam's discount and it was $48 after taxes.  The reason we stayed there was because it was so close to the interstate. The sites were so small that people sitting out in their front yard were on top our utilities. Dad didn't hook up our sewer hose because he would have had to put it on top of our neighbors' feet who were sitting outside.  The only good thing was that there were several restaurants within walking distance. Mama normally cooks on travel days because we don't unhook the Jeep.  The folks walked across the street to Braum's which is a place Mama has been wanting to try.  They are known for their ice cream. She said it was good.

Braum's Bacon Cheeseburger

Turtle Sundae - single scoop
After the folks got home from dinner, Mama noticed burrs all over my bed.  That's right, I collected burrs on our walk.  Mama didn't notice them before she left.  She was quite upset.  It seems the dog walking area was not as friendly as it first appeared.  We figured that Mama found no less than 50 burrs throughout the motor home and just yesterday she found one on a dish cloth in the drawer.  We don't know how that one got there.  It is not fun stepping on burrs.  Mama can testify to that.  We couldn't wait to get out of that campground.  Sorry, we planned to take photos, but the burr thing changed that.  The folks said yes ago that they traveled through Kansas with their dog, Sami, and she picked up some really large burrs. They said those were worst than mine.  :::shrugs shoulders:::

Our trip into Missouri was windy.  We have been through worse.  We are staying at the same place that we stayed last fall.  Scout is so happy to be here even though there are not treat trucks.   She immediately recognized the place and she wanted to walk her favorite trails.  Mama told her to slow down because we have a month.

One of our favorite trails.

Yep, the sniffing is good here.
