Day Out With Mom

We had a very busy Saturday with Mom.  We started out our day with a very long walk going down some streets that we haven't walked before in our park. We are not sure how far we walked because our walking app didn't work today.  :::sigh:::  We didn't run in the park today because Scout limped for like ten seconds after a run on Thursday and Mom hasn't let her run since.

The club house.
After our walk, we hung up some laundry on the community clothesline.  We have only seen one other person use it.

Community clothesline - the RVs behind it are in storage.
After we watched an hour or so of Food Network, we loaded in the car for a trip to town.  Mom took us to lunch!  We went to Checkers.  It is a fast food place where you drive-thru.  We had a few fries.

Our laundry was dry when we got back, so we brought that into the RV and then we sat outside for three hours and listened to Christmas music while Mom read.

A nice lady that we have walked with several times came by, so we took a walk with her and Mom.  We wanted to run in the dog park, but it was full of little dogs.  Drat!

We are now pretty tired from all that fresh air, so it is time for a long nap.

Let Me Show You Around Our New Digs

We are adjusting well to our new place in Alabama.  We enjoying laying in the sand and let me tell you, digging in sand is fun!

We finally took some photos today of our place.  This is only a small part of the campground.

This is our site.  We put out a few Christmas decorations.

The sites are quite large.  The people on the left side of us haven't been home since we have been here.

Our street

Beyond these trees is the dog park.

It is huge!  Scout and I love it.  We run and run and run!

I like to dig in the sand. Today was funny because I would dig and Mom would fill up the hole and while she was doing that, I would dig another hole on the other side of the fence.  We played that game for quite a while.
Scout is trying to catch me.  It's not happening.

Weeeee!

Scout is happy that the temperatures are now in the 60's instead of the 70's.

Scout decided to play the "dig the hole game" with Mom.
Some of the people who live here lease their lots.  They live here year round.  Other people have decided to build homes here.

Some people build a home for their RV.  They can park it in a covered area and then they have a house.

Some people have built traditional houses here. We do not know what the re-sale value is on these homes because a traditional home can be built next to just a lot with just an RV or to a home that is not traditional.

We have Canadians living in our park.
We have half Canadians and half Americans here.
Our entrance is decorated for Christmas.

It is very tempting.

We look like the ambassadors for our park. BOL!
There is still more to see in our park, but we will save that for another day.

Sweet Home Alabama

Thanksgiving morning, we left Stone Mountain for our winter destination.  Traffic was very light which was nice since we had to drive in the Atlanta area.  Atlanta traffic can be bad and in a motor home it is stressful.

We arrived at our campground around 2 p.m.  Mom immediately put our Thanksgiving dinner in the oven.  She fixed Cornish hens, green bean casserole, rolls and pumpkin pie.

The sites here are large and sandy.  Scout and I are loving laying in the sand.  We are in the country.  I get up with the roosters here.  BOL!  I can hear them, but I haven't seen them.  The campground is owned by an RV club that we belong to and there are tons of activities to do.  We will tell you more about that at a later time.
Our site
We are about 20 miles from Gulf Shores, AL. The folks drove there on Saturday.

Do you see the jellyfish?

Mom said the beach is beautiful!

The weather has been great here so far.  It has been in the 70's.  We are running our air conditioning instead of our heat.  It sure doesn't seem like December.

Jimmy Carter Library and Museum

While we were staying at Stone Mountain, the folks visited the Jimmy Carter Library/Museum.  They are wanting to visit all the presidential libraries.  This was the 6th library that they have visited.

Mom said the museum was nice and she learned a lot about the family.  She thought Amy was an only child, but she has three brothers.  They are older than Amy and didn't live in the White House.

Rosalynn was very active in being a close advisor to Jimmy while he was the President.

Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter have been extremely busy helping people since leaving the White House.

Mom said the neat thing about visiting the Presidential Libraries is that you learn about the President as a person.

Replica of what Rosalynn and Jimmy wore on their wedding day.

Jimmy, Amy and Rosalynn after the inauguration.

A replica of what Jimmy's Oval Office looked like.

Margaret Truman gave Jimmy "The Buck Stops Here" for his desk.

The Presidents signed their photo and the baseball in the lower part of the photo.

This is a nut cracker.

This painting is very interesting in person.  It is made up of buildings, flags, ships, buildings, vehicles, etc.

Medals of Freedom given to The Carters in 1999.

Noble Peace Prize was given to Jimmy in 2002
After visiting the museum, the folks returned to the campground for more fun and walks with us.

We showed you the picture of our campground site yesterday, but they also have sites that are not in the woods as much.  Some of the sites have decks and propane BBQ grills.  It is a nice place.
