Loose Pig!
I bet that got your attention, didn't it? LOL Yes, there is a loose pig in the park, but we will tell you more about later.
This morning, Mama asked me what I wanted to write about. I told her I didn't know because not much is going on right now. People really don't want to hear about you doing laundry or Dad breaking the car window. Hmmm....maybe the car window is blog worthy. Basically, Dad went out for lunch which is extremely rare and when he rolled down the window, it fell. He now has it held up with magnets and has most of the door taken apart. The door didn't want to open when Mama needed to open it to do laundry. She was not a happy camper. She hopes the window really gets fixed and it is not something that she has to learn to live with. A person really needs a driver side window that works. How are you supposed to go through a drive-thru ? It is already a pain because we have to use a card to get into the park and it's hard when you can't roll down your window. Mama said she is not going to worry about it.
Mama suggested we take the camera on our walk this morning and maybe we would find something to blog about. We didn't even get out the door before we found excitement.
The squirrel finally left and we headed out on our walk. We walked slowly as this is our third walk of the day and it's only 9 a.m. It's a beautiful day here, so we are enjoying it. We turned the corner and what do we see?
Mama was right. You just never know what you will see on a walk.

We Just Can't Be Wordless On Wednesdays
It's true, we have only been wordless a few times on Wednesdays. We just can't do it very well. LOL
Last night, Mama got her haircut. She said she spent the entire time telling the stylist about our HUGE adventure. The stylist said it sounded like so much fun and Mama told her it was. Mama stopped at the pet store and bought us some treats. Dad's plan of giving us the pet food samples from the dog show as treats didn't go over well with us. It kind of upset our tummies, so Mama bought us some real treats. Mama went to the local grocery store and found a treasure. She found Diet Code Red Mountain Dew. She has not been able to find it since we left home. Mama is happy.
We were asked if Mama is a restaurant reviewer? Mama wishes she was. She always reads the Urbanspoon reviews before she tries a restaurant and decided to start contributing since she likes to talk about the food she tries. Her blog reviews are being put on the site as well as her photos and comments. She wonders if she should start a blog that only has restaurant reviews. I told her to go for it, but she is still thinking.
Dad was given a bag full of home grown tomatoes yesterday at work. Mama took some to our neighbors this morning. They said they will make salsa with them. Wow! Mama is just going to eat ours. LOL
Scout and I have been visiting the dog park here. There are always so many new smells there. We have been meeting a lot of new people here. I am even asking people to pet me now. I never really cared if people petted me before, but now I love it.

A Disappointing Meal :-O
Sunday, the folks went shopping. Mama needed a new pair of tennis shoes. Her old pair is falling apart because of walking on wet grass so much. She has used cement glue on them twice. She found a pair at Kohl's that feel good, but she doesn't like the color. They are dark gray. She prefers white. However, while she was trying on the new shoes, she realized her old shoes really smelled. They smell because they have been wet so much. She thinks it's probably mildew. She decided she better get a new pair regardless of the color. Yesterday, she soaked the old pair in laundry detergent and she hopes once they dry out, they will be okay to wear to walk us. If we were not in the shade, things might dry out faster.
After shopping at Kohl's, they searched for a place to eat lunch. They came across an Arthur Treachers, so they pulled in. They had searched for one on Saturday and it was no longer there. Mama ordered chicken and chips. The chips are larger fries than normal and she liked them. The chicken was nice and crisp. The hush puppies were good. She had a side order of coleslaw, but did not like it. Dad ordered a Seafood platter. He said it was good.
The folks then drove to Camping World. Mama is still looking for a cart to carry her laundry in. She found one online that Walmart carries, but she has to have it shipped there. She would like to see one in person. They didn't have one, but she did buy a hummingbird feeder. She has one, but it doesn't have the spot for the hummingbirds to rest on. We have a hummingbird that is visiting here. He is a Ruby Red Throat. It's a little disappointing because that is the same species that we have at home. We would like to see something new.
On to the somewhat disappointing meal. Mama has been wanting to eat at the Brown Derby. It is a steak and seafood place. 100% of the people who visited, have liked it. She ordered a ribeye and a loaded baked potato. The salad comes in a big bowl and is shared. It has eggs, cucumbers, onions and lettuce. The salad was delicious. The homemade bread was delicious. The loaded baked potato was huge and delicious but it was $1.99 additional to have it loaded. That seems a little much for cheese and bacon bits. The ribeye, it was not good. It was dry and unseasoned. It seemed like it was a bad cut of meat. It was very disappointing. Mama's total bill was $31 with a tip and she felt it just wasn't worth it because of the steak. Dad's bill was separate.
Dad ordered the strip steak and a sweet potato. He felt the same way about his steak. It was dry and unseasoned. Maybe it was just a bad night for steaks.
Mama said she might give them another try, but she would order the baby back ribs next time.
Dad told our neighbors about their bad steak experience and they recommended a place to them. They may try it this weekend. It is located in an old mill. It sounds like it could be interesting. Mama didn't place a vote on Urbanspoon because the choices are like or dislike. She liked it, but disliked the steak. If she totally disliked it, she wouldn't be willing to give them another try.
It is supposed to be a rainy day today. We were headed to the playground and it started to rain, so we came back. It's not raining now, so I got ripped off.

A Visit To Rock N Roll Hall of Fame
They decided to eat lunch before visiting the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. They stopped at a place called Brewsters. The parking lot was full of motorcycles. They went in and found the place not open for lunch but registering the motorcyclist for a fun run of some sort. They checked GPS and it said there was a Beef O' Brady's nearby. That is a restaurant that Mama loved in Florida. It turns out that it is now Brewsters. They hopped back on the highway and searched the GPS again. It said there was an Arthur Treacher's nearby. They haven't seen one of those in years, so they decided to try it. They had to take a lot of back streets to get to it and after about two miles, they arrived. It was now gyro place. They were not having good luck. They passed a place called The Dolphin. It is a family style restaurant. They pulled in there. Mama was not sure about it but she was tired of looking for a place to eat.
The Dolphin is a family restaurant. It has a lot of dolphin statues on the inside. The service was good, but not fast. They serve a wide variety of foods, but Mama decided to have a bacon cheeseburger.

Finally, they were on the way to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. The drive to it was easy. It is so different than Houston. We really are enjoying our stay in Ohio. Mama was surprised when she found out they had to pay to park. She thought the $22 per person to see the museum was enough. They followed the signs to parking and it said it was $10 but with validation from the museum, it was $8. They found cheaper parking as they were leaving, but that is what happens, doesn't it? They had to wait in line for about 15 minutes to get tickets. They must have gotten there at a busy time because later there was not a line at all. Mama was very disappointed that cameras were not allowed inside the exhibits. She told Daddy, "...but I'm a Blogger!" LOL Here are the photos she could take.

They were gone a long time, but decided to stop for dinner before getting home. They stopped at a place that had some bad reviews. Mama asked a neighbor here about it and she said she liked it, but her husband didn't. She said the salad bar was good. Mama saw a commercial for it, so they decided to try it.
Eat N Park |
Roast beef sandwich on toasted bread with mashed potatoes and gravy - Yum! |
Dad's meal - Seafood Pasta Bake - Shrimp and crabmeat baked in scampi butter and Alfredo sauce, served on a bed of penne pasta. Served with garlic toast and your choice of one side. |
The folks liked this restaurant and are not sure why the rating is so low. They may re-visit it when Grandma and Grandpa are here. I guess you can't always go with the ratings because they visited a place last night that had 100% of the people liking it and Mama was very disappointed in the steak. We will tell you more about that tomorrow.

A Christmas Story - Tour Of The House
Yesterday, the folks set out on sightseeing and boy, did they spend money. They visited the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame which was a little pricey to visit. Mama said we will talk about that tomorrow. She wants to tell you about a place that she was excited to see and she knows her BFF is anxious to see hear the full report. She teased her with a couple of phone photos yesterday.
We are not sure how many of you are familiar with A Christmas Story. It is a movie that came out in 1983. It was a flop at the theater, but then TBS (TV station) bought it and started showing it at Christmas time. It is now shown 24 hours on Christmas. It is now a hit. It is about a little boy, Ralphie, who wants a BB gun for Christmas. Everyone tells him he will shoot his eye out, even Santa. The movie is set in the 1940's. The first time Mama saw the movie, she didn't like it, but now she thinks it is cute and funny. I even watched it last year with her. When Mama found out that the house was in Cleveland and they offered tours, she said she had to see it.
The house was bought by a man who became a fan of the movie after his parents sent him a lamp that they made that looked like the famous lamp in the movie. He started making the lamps and selling them. He found out the house was for sale on Ebay and wanted to be sure he got it, so he offered $150,000. He lived in California and had never been to Cleveland. When he actually saw the house in person, he realized he overpaid. It is located in a neighborhood that is run down. He fixed the house up though and watched the movie frame by frame to make sure it was as authentic as possible. He didn't plan on charging admission, but maybe items from the gift shop didn't sell as well as he had hoped or maybe he realized people would pay to visit because the admission is $10 a person.
Mama didn't know if the tour would be worth the price of admission, but she wanted to take a chance. She was not disappointed. You know how when you visit most places, you are told not to touch? Well, you are encouraged to touch here. You can try on the hats the kids wore, sit on the furniture, play with the BB gun, sit in the kitchen cabinet (if you know the movie, you know about the kitchen cabinet). It is a fun place to visit if you are a fan of the movie. Mama said that everyone on the tour seemed to love the movie as much as she does. Dad even thought the house was a fun visit.
The movie is based on a true story. The man who narrates the story is the real "Ralphie". He actually appears in the movie. When Ralphie gets in line to see Santa the man tells him "the line ends here, it starts over there." that is the real Ralphie.
Across the street from the house is a museum which has items from the movie.
There were a lot more items, but we have probably overloaded you with photos today. Mama is anxious to see the movie again after visiting the house. They accidentally passed by the store that was in the movie where Ralphie saw Santa. If they have time, she would like to visit downtown Cleveland to see the other filming sights. They were not planning on visiting the house yesterday, but when she realized it was just a few miles from the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, they decided to see it.
