Daddy's Away

Daddy's away for work. It looks like it's going to be an eventful time without him. Mama cut the grass in our backyard because the grass was getting really tall. Daddy cut it last week, but with all the rain...it really grew. Mama said it's supposed to rain until next week, so she was scared that Daddy wouldn't be able to cut it this weekend. He doesn't like her to cut the grass. We are not sure why, but she says she doesn't like to do it anyway so he can keep the job.

Mama said there is a raccoon who is sitting along the road. She saw him when she went to the store today. She mentioned it to Daddy when he called tonight and he said it was there yesterday. He said we should not walk that way because the raccoon is either sick or hurt since he also saw it last night. Mama said a raccoon like that makes her nervous. Speaking of raccoons, one emptied out our hummingbird feeder last night. We will have to start taking the feeder in every night. We had to do that last year.

There was a bunny in our backyard. He's a silly bunny coming into our fenced area. He has all the fields and woods around here and he chooses our area. He's not very smart. I guess he doesn't know that greyhounds chase bunnies.

The big excitement of the night is that our side by side refrigerator has quit working. MAMA JUST MADE US FROSTY TREATS!!! She moved everything to the old refrigerator and freezer, so we should be okay. Scout and I supervised the moving of everything, but especially our frosty treats. Daddy will look at it when he comes home. He said he may be able to fix it. The compressor is not wanting to start. It's only 4 years old and Mama said we really cannot afford to get a new one.

I guess that's it from here. Wow, I had a lot to say today.

Greyhounds on CBS Morning Show

Did you see the greyhounds on the CBS Morning Show this morning? April is Adopt A Greyhound Month.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the greyhounds on TV.

I was so disappointed when they went to commercial. I love watching TV and if you put a greyhound on there, watch out!

Mama found the link from the morning show! Doesn't this dog look just like Scout? Yikes, there are two of them! Click on the picture to see the clip.

Hope you enjoyed watching it as much as we did.

We've Been Camping!

We just got home from camping. We went to the Lake of the Ozarks. Our campsite had a view of the lake. Scout jumped into the lake, of course. She loves the water. I avoid the water as much as possible.

We visited Ha Ha Tonka. Grandma called it Willy Wonka. Ha Ha Tonka is a castle that burned down. It's a fun place to explore. We went there last year, too. There are lots of trails and we were able to walk all around the castle. We met a couple interested in adopting greyhounds, so Mama "planted some seeds" as she calls it.

Grandma and Grandpa's RV started smoking when they plugged it in at the campsite. The campsite electric was wired wrong. It burned up their converter, microwave and TV. Mama is going to write more about all of that on her blog Greys & Things, but it may not be until tomorrow because she is tired.

Pictures of Us

Today, I thought I would just show you some photos of Scout, myself and Piggy our new stuffie.

Here is Piggy. Piggy is the stuffie that Mama bought us this weekend. He has 16 squeakers and a rattle in his head. He is the ultimate squeaky toy.

Scout with Piggy. Scout is not into toys like I am. She is learning, but her attention span is very short.

Here I am with another toy. Mama hates this one because the squeaker is really loud and once I start playing with it, I play with it for at least 10 minutes.

Daddy is talking to me in this picture. I love my Daddy.

Yep, Scout and I both love Daddy. He gives the best ear rubs.

Matching Collars?!

You are not going to believe what Mama did! She made Scout and I matching collars. No, it's not cute! I am a boy. I do not want to match my sister! My skin cousins have enough trouble telling us apart and with matching collars...oh, I don't even want to think about it.

Scout doesn't think it's an issue, but she's a girl. Girls are strange.

Mama said she wants us to wear them on Memorial Day while we are camping. People are going to laugh at me, I just know it.

A New Frame

On our last camping trip, Mama bought this frame. She doesn't like to have her picture taken, so the middle photo is from before Scout was adopted. Ah, those were the days. It was just me in the house. I didn't have to share bones, toys, treats or food. I think I liked being an only hound, but Scout can be fun at times. She's such a silly girl. Do you know what she did last night? She was laying on the floor and I walked by and she rolled over and asked me to rub her belly. Who does she think I am? I don't rub anyone's belly.

Monday Evening

We may keep this background for now. It's kind of growing on us.

Mama was very busy with work today and while we don't like that, it means more money which equals more treats. We have to look at the big picture.

Mama has fish sticks in the oven. The smell is getting us very excited. We love fish!!!

We are going camping this weekend and Grandma and Grandpa are coming, too. We will be at the lake and the weather is supposed to be wonderful.

It's Family Fun Day!

Today is family fun day at our house. Jack and I shared the couch.

(Pardon the glowing eyes. Mama tried to fix them, but she couldn't on this photo. She told us to just live with it.)

Then, Jack and I played with a new toy that Mama bought us yesterday at Petsmart. It was on clearance. We have a room full of toys, but Mama said she couldn't pass this stuffie up. This stuffed pig has 16 squeakers. You read that correctly....16! We are having lots of fun with it.

I helped Mama fold towels. She said she wished she had a camera because I was so cute. I laid down and used her folded towels as my pillow. I keep telling her that she needs to carry the camera with her at all times because my cuteness just comes out naturally.

I'm not sure what else will happen today. It has been raining since last night, so we will only be going outside when absolutely necessary. Our backyard is still a mess. Did I tell you that they blocked it off from us because they are trying to get grass to grow? I don't see any new grass coming up. I'm going crazy not being able to run my imaginary track. Mama said it will probably be blocked off for 30 days. ....sigh... I'm learned to run in a straight line, but I have to be careful because there is a fence at the bottom of the hill. I get going so fast that I almost crash into it.

Have a nice day!

Guess what?

Mama just told me that my sister is planning on coming to the greyhound event in Kansas that we are also attending. She is traveling all the way from Rayham, MA. I think that is how you spell it. I haven't seen her in a few years. It will be fun to see one of my sisters again. Mama said that Jack's real Daddy will also be there, but that Jack and I will not be able to meet him because he lives at the Greyhound Hall of Fame. He's alive. He's not a museum piece or anything like that. He greets people. That's his job now. He's like a Walmart greeter.

Also, I already have plans for Labor Day weekend. We are going camping. That's a big surprise. LOL I love living in a forever home because you are never alone on the holidays.

I Passed!

I passed my exam! Yesterday, Mama took me to the vet. I was so scared. I had to wait in the exam room for 20 minutes because the vet was running late. He said he had seen 22 dogs and cats in that day alone, which is a lot. I could hear dogs crying. I didn't know what they were going to do to me. Scout sat out in the car. She wanted to come in, but Mama said she could only handle one of us at a time. Scout could have taken my place. I wouldn't have minded.

The vet was kind of nice, but I don't like him. He gave me two shots and looked at my teeth. He tried to scrape my front tooth, but I really didn't like that, so he didn't do that again. He told us that the daily teeth brushing was working and he did not recommend that I be put under to have my teeth clean. That was a huge relief. Greyhounds are very sensitive to anesthesia and Mama really didn't want them to do that to me. She has known several greys that have died from that.

I gave Mama the stink eye on the way home. I'm still pretty upset that she took me there. She's trying to make it up to me, but I'm not letting her off that easy.

The greyhound who is glad that his exam is over!

I'm Naked!

Mama made me a new collar and Daddy said that people will think I am naked wearing it. See, it blends into me. I could be a hunter. A hunter hunting rabbits. LOL (I really don't hunt rabbits, but you know, people always say that greyhounds chase rabbits during the race. We really don't...oh, never mind, it was supposed to be a joke.)

Mama says that I look very handsome and it will be perfect for camping. I have a green one like this and the kids call me an Army dog.

Happy Saturday everyone!

Home Again

We are home again. It took us a day to recover from our camping trip. All that wind and cold air made us really tired.

I have my big "exam" next Tuesday with the vet. Mama has been brushing my teeth almost every day since my teeth started looking bad again. We even brushed my teeth while camping. The teeth brushing really helps me and the vet said he was impressed last year, so we will see what he says next week. I don't want to have a dental, so I'm working really hard on the teeth brushing.

Mama made us homemade frosty treats again today since we ate our supply while camping.

Mama also bought some new material for more collars today. She's a nut!

Still On The Road

We have been having fun camping, except it stormed last night. Today, it turned cold and it is so windy. The motor home keeps shaking. Scary stuff!

We have been on lots of walks and met some very nice people. There are huge birds here that live along the stream. Daddy said they are called turkey vultures. We were walking last night and this siren went off. The siren told the people to stop fishing and then all the turkey vultures flew close to us. It's a strange place.

Jack did the "greyhound scream of death" yesterday. If you don't know what that means, it is when a greyhound screams like something is killing them and it turns out to be nothing at all. Mama and Daddy immediately checked his foot because he was holding it up in the air and they thought maybe he stepped on a fish hook or something bad like that. It was nothing. As soon as they told him he was fine, he put his foot down and started prancing around like normal. He made quite a scene though and lots of people were saying "Oh,no, he is okay?" My brother is a goof.

Reporting To You From The Road

We are on our way to do some trout fishing. The sky is blue right now. We are expecting nice temperatures until tomorrow night and then rain is supposed to come in bringing with it cooler temperatures.

Here I am as we are traveling down the highway.

We stopped at a rest area. Jack and I did some sniffing and exploring.

I will update when I can. Mams said we may not have Internet at the campsite. She will have withdrawals again.

Camping Time

It's busy around here this week. We are headed out for another camping trip tomorrow. Mama went to the store yesterday and bought all sorts of food for the trip.

Mama made us some frozen treats. We get to take those camping with us, but she gave us each one this morning because we were being a pain. Hey, it works for us.

Pardon the butt shot of me. My butt is really not that big, it's just the way I am laying and the camera adds ten pounds.

I will try to update you during our trip, but we may not have Internet service.

Home Again - Part 3

Well, we just realized that we didn't finish telling you about the rest of our trip home.  I don't know if we even remember the res...
