A Snowy Sunday Morning

Hi everyone, it's me Jack. Mama has been busy decorating the house for Christmas and helping Daddy and Grandpa split and stack wood so we can use our fireplace. She hasn't had much time to blog this weekend, so I thought I would help her out.

This morning, we woke up to snow. It's not a lot, maybe an inch. Scout and I were still able to do zoomies in our yard though. We ran so fast that we are a blur in many of the photos and sometimes we are not in the photos at all. LOL Mama hates her camera because it doesn't take good photos of us running.

Scout and I love fresh snowfall, but we grow tired of it quickly.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Jack and Scout are sad today because they will not be getting turkey. We will be headed out to my in-laws in a few hours. I'm sure I will find a way to make it up to the pups.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

One More Day To Turkey Day

Scout is thinking about Turkey Day. I haven't told her that I am not the cook this year, so turkey is probably not on her menu unless it's in her Purina One.

Scout is Pouting

Does this dog look sad or what? She is upset with me because I made her leave my office for a while this morning. Scout has become very spoiled and yes, it's my fault. She has a very high pitched whine. She whines because she wants to be petted and have her belly rubbed. She will even lie in the bedroom which is a room across from the office and whine for me to come in and give her a belly rub. I guess I must have done that a time or two or she wouldn't be doing it, right? I've had long talks with her about this whining nonsense, but she continues. This morning, Jack started doing it. That's it, it has to stop. My husband told me to tune it out. I can't. It's like fingernails on a chalk board. It really gets on my nerves. This morning, I gave her two warnings and then kicked her and Jack out of the office. I made them stay out for about 5 minutes. I opened the door and was rewarded with many kisses and headbutts. I'm not sure why Scout looks so sad now. She could be trying to make me feel bad or maybe she is plotting her revenge.

Slow Like a Monday Morning

Jack had a nice slow morning this morning in his jammies. His leg wound is almost completely healed .... thank goodness.

Scout's foot is still sore.

I purchased a wireless Internet card for my computer over the weekend. I spent over 12 hours trying to get it to work. It's still not working. I have to call for help today, which I dread. I hope they will find an easy fix to get it going. It's probably just a setting on my computer.

I started decorating for Christmas this weekend. It's half fall and half Christmas at our house now. LOL

Waiting .....

(photo of Jack and his Daddy on a recent camping trip)

Jack and Scout are waiting for their Daddy to come home. They know it will be today because I have opened up the blinds in the laundry room. I always close those when he is gone. I have a fear of people looking in my windows at night. It happened to me when I was a child and I have been scared ever since.

I will not mention my husband's name until he pulls into the driveway. Jack will do zoomies through the house and Scout will scream - happy screams that Daddy is home.

Jack's New Look

It's just one more big sleep before Daddy comes home!

Nothing really exciting has happened this time, which is good. Mama went to town the other day and came home looking like she stuck her finger in a light socket. She got a new perm. Scary! She has hair that touches her shoulders and she said she likes the curly look better than straight. It's tighter than last time though and we are all getting used to it. She washed it this morning and maybe now she won't scare herself each time she passes a mirror. It was pretty wild looking yesterday.

Scout's birthday was yesterday. We didn't really do much. Mama had said we would go to the park, but Scout's foot is still sore. She cut it earlier this week while running in the yard. We didn't go to Burger King, either. I think it's because of Mama's hair. She wanted to hide out until she could wash it. We had homemade frozen treats to celebrate.

I've been thinking about how people can change their looks with just changing their hair. I can't do that. I mean, look at me, I barely have enough hair to cover my body and not even all of it. I have a bald belly, yes, I said BALD. I decided to try something though. What do you think? Do I look dignified?

Happy Birthday Scout!!!

Scout is 3 years old today!!!! I told her she could be a princess for the day. We haven't decided what we will do today, but we may to to Burger King for lunch. It's very rare for the pups to go to town in the middle of the week, but since gas prices are low right now and Daddy is out of town, you never know what crazy things we might do.

Woot Off!

I'm the Man of the House This Week

Well, guys, my Daddy is traveling this week. Mama said he will be home in 4 sleeps, but I've gone to sleep 4 times today and he still isn't home. I guess her sleeps and my sleeps are different.

My job is to take care of Mama while Daddy's gone. I hope nothing big comes up. There was one time when Daddy was gone that I had to help Mama fix her computer, chase off a snapping turtle, kept Mama safe because a storm came and knocked out our electricity at night and then had to defend her from a snake that got in our screen porched. It's exhausting being the "man of the house".

More Holiday Photos of Past & Present Pets

It's me Jack again....I just realized that the obsession with holiday photos goes back even farther than I thought. I have found holiday photos of the pets before me. I think Mama has a definite problem.

This is Barney. He was in a abusive house before coming to live with Mama. Mama says he was the coolest cat that she has ever known. He became a diabetic at the age of 15 and never minded getting his daily insulin shots. He died at the age of 17 in 2003. Barney may have been a cool cat, but he looks a little ticked about wearing that Santa hat.

This is Sami. She moved in when she was a puppy and lived with Mama and Daddy until she died at the age of 15 in 2006. I was adopted a few months after she went to the Rainbow Bridge.

This is the holiday photo that Mama used last year. It's of Scout and me, of course. See, no hats, no ties, just our holiday collars. Mama had the hang of things last year.

Photos Jack Would Rather Forget

Jack here again.... Mama pulled out holiday pictures from the past few years. Do you want to see what she has done to me.?

These are from 2006.

First she tried the Santa hat. Nope, I am not going to look happy.

Then she tried the elf hat. Is she serious? This is so embarrassing.

Finally, this is the photo that was chosen for the 2006 holiday card. I'm wearing a Santa tie and not a stupid hat. I think it was the best choice. She wanted to have me in my jammies, but Daddy vetoed that.

Holiday Photos

Hey fellow furkids, it's Jack here. Does your Mama or Daddy dress you up for pictures for their holiday cards? My Mama does and she already started doing it today. We had our first holiday photo session of the year and it's only the middle of November. Can you believe that? I really don't think anyone really likes receiving our cards, but she keeps sending them out.

This year, she only made us wear these jester collars that she bought us last year. Whatever! It's not as bad as my first year here. The first year, I had to wear this elf hat. Can you say "EMBARRASSING"? Then she made me wear a Santa's hat. Last year, Scout refused to participate. Mama puts anything on her head and she deflates. She will not move, she will not look at the camera. She pouts.

Scout was fine with the jester collar this year because Mama gave us braunschweiger. We will do almost anything for that stuff. Yummy!

Mama was all excited because she thought she had a 33% off coupon for cards at Walgreen's. She spent hours choosing a card only to find out that the coupon doesn't work for cards. She said she will wait and see if they go on sale like they did last year before she orders. I think that also means that she may try to get more photos of us since she didn't order today. :::sigh:::

Oh, you want to see the front runner photo for the holiday card? Okay, here it is:

My Dogs Are Upset With Me

Last night, Jack's wound starting bleeding a little. I put styptic powder on it and he screamed. He didn't scream on Sunday when my husband did the same thing. I tried it again and again he screamed and this time Scout came running to help him. She was so concerned that Mama was hurting him. I then decided to put an ointment on it to keep it from getting infected. I noticed that Jack had his head buried into Scout and she was kissing his ears. How sweet is that?
I knew that she loved him, but I wasn't so sure about him loving her.

When my husband came home from work, they both greeted him and seemed to linger with him longer than normal. I told him that Jack cried when I put the styptic powder on him and both dogs gave me the "stink eye". Wow! I gave them a Frosty Paw to make up with them and they ate it, but they still gave me the cold shoulder most of the night.

Veteran's Day

I've been thinking today about all of those who have served our country and those who died doing it.

My Dad served in the Korean War. My Dad died unexpectedly in 1987. I posted this photo of my Dad on my other blog today, but I think it is okay to post it again.
This is my salute to him.

Home Again!

We're home from camping!

Scout and I had fun, but it was cold. It was only like 42 degrees, windy and cloudy. We stayed inside the camper most of the time, but Mama and Daddy did take us for some nice long walks. We enjoyed playing in the leaves that were every where.

We got to watch Animal Planet which we love, but can't do at home because we get too excited and try to attack the TV. We can watch it in our motor home because the TV is off the ground.

Can you tell Scout is smiling in her photo? She is watching Pet Star with Mario Lopez. She thinks he is hot and that's why she is smiling. Look at her... her eyes are all dreamy-like. LOL
Something bad happened tonight. I cut my leg a few days ago, but Mama just noticed it this morning. Well, tonight I was licking it and I got it bleeding. It made such a mess all over the bed. Mama is still washing all the bedding. She told me not to go into detail, but she thought I might need to go to the vet because it was such a mess. She is watching me like a hawk now and won't let me touch my wound. She can be such a nag at times.

Your friend,
Jack

On The Road Again

It's us . . . Jack and Scout. We are so excited because we are headed out camping this weekend. If you see us traveling down I-44 . . . honk. On second thought, you probably shouldn't do that, you might give Daddy a heart attack. Talk to you when we get back. Happy Trails!

Family Fun Day

Today was "family fun day" at our house. What is that? It's a day when we spend the entire day with the pups. Today, we watched the Rams' game. It started out fun, but as you can see from Jack's reaction, it didn't end well. We lost big time.

Cheer up, Jack! I'll make you a homemade frozen treat to make up for it.

Jack Loves To Watch TV

This is my handsome Jack watching the same Halloween card as Scout. Jack is a big TV watcher and also watches my computer screen. Jack will watch TV for hours and definitely can tell when an animal is on the screen as opposed to people. He cries when he sees a greyhound on TV.

His favorite programs are AFV and anything on Animal Planet, but he is known to watch Judge Judy, The View and Guiding Light. Oh, he also likes tribal council on Survivor. I always leave the TV on for him when I leave the house. I usually leave it on either GSN or Food Network. I can't leave it on a station with animal shows because he has been known to attack the TV.

Jack is truly a couch potato when it comes to watching his TV.

Home Again - Part 3

Well, we just realized that we didn't finish telling you about the rest of our trip home.  I don't know if we even remember the res...
