Spring Means Bugs

This post is going to be all over the place.  You have been warned.  BOL!

Our walk this morning was quite warm.  It was 60 and the bugs were out.  That is annoying!

It still looks like winter, but a few of the trees are showing signs of spring.

Scout wanted to play with me this morning, but I turned her down.

 She was sad.

When I was first adopted.  I was white.  Look at me now!  I think instead of being called UCME Bubba Sparks, it should have been UCME Bubba Specks.  BOL!

I am a speckled boy and no it is not dirt as Dad says it is.
Mama was contacted this week by a lady who has four greyhounds and who is going to start RVing.    You can follow her adventure at Greyt RV Adventures.  I bet some of you already know her.

Dad fixed our water leak, but now we don't have hot water.  Mama says the water is lukewarm most of the time, but you should have heard her scream this morning when it turned very cold during her shower.  BOL!

The Jeep is ready to be picked up but they couldn't find anything wrong with the air conditioner.

There is a sick raccoon in the campground.  We have seen it twice.  Mama told the manager and he tried to catch it, but it took off. We haven't seen it since.

I told you this post was going all over the place.  BOL!

A New Car?

The folks left Saturday morning in the Jeep, but came home in this:

It definitely is not hound friendly.  Its' seats are black and our hair will definitely show up.  It also only has a backseat and not an area for us to stretch out.  Scout and I demanded our Jeep back.  Mama said not to worry that this is just a rental while the Jeep has some much needed repairs performed.  The Jeep will be back as soon as Dad has time to take off work to pick it up.  We will keep the rental for the week and that will allow Mama time to get some things done. The car has Texas plates on it.  Isn't that funny?

Scout and I go hiking in the woods almost every day.  I think we only missed on day and that was due to rain.  It was pretty muddy one day, but we didn't care.

This is part of a hill that we have to climb to get to our trail.

Here I am pulling Mama and Scout up the hill.
Last week, they put a new well in the campground.  Boy, was that loud and it took them two days.  We were glad when they finished it.

Most of the campers here keep to themselves.  It is not nearly as friendly as the place in Arlington that we just left.  If we walked around 5 p.m. in Arlington, we would get stopped several times with people wanting to talk to us.  The workers here are nice, but they don't carry treats.  The manager did visit us while we were in the dog park and asked us if we wanted a hamburger in the large dog area.  Remember the hamburger?  (see below)  Mama told him that we prefer an area to run.  He said that makes sense to him, so no hamburger in the other fenced dog area.  :-)  Wow, someone listened to us!

Travel Days Can Be Interesting

Our trip back to the Midwest had a few memorable events. Our first stop was somewhere in Oklahoma.  We filled up our propane tank and our gas tank.  There was a five gallon bucket of windshield cleaner by our door. Scout somehow got her leash wrapped around the "mop" that was in the bucket and turned the entire bucket over.  Mama said we showed everyone why she calls us the "redneck kids".  BOL!  Scout was really scared after she did that.  We stopped for lunch in Oklahoma at a truck stop.  We were parked in our spot when a tractor trailer decided to drive past us.  We thought for sure he was going to hit us.  We all held our breath as he inched by us. We are not sure how he didn't take off our mirror and leave a scratch along our side.  We decided to leave there and found a better place for lunch.  BOL!

I think this was my first trip to Kansas.

We spent the night in Wichita, KS.  The RV park was right off the toll road.  We paid our toll to get off and Mama said "There is our turn?"  Dad said "Are you sure?"  It was so easy that we almost missed it.  The park didn't have a single tree.  They charge $54 a night which is outrageous. We used our Good Sam's discount and it was $48 after taxes.  The reason we stayed there was because it was so close to the interstate. The sites were so small that people sitting out in their front yard were on top our utilities. Dad didn't hook up our sewer hose because he would have had to put it on top of our neighbors' feet who were sitting outside.  The only good thing was that there were several restaurants within walking distance. Mama normally cooks on travel days because we don't unhook the Jeep.  The folks walked across the street to Braum's which is a place Mama has been wanting to try.  They are known for their ice cream. She said it was good.

After the folks got home from dinner, Mama noticed burrs all over my bed.  That's right, I collected burrs on our walk.  Mama didn't notice them before she left.  She was quite upset.  It seems the dog walking area was not as friendly as it first appeared.  We figured that Mama found no less than 50 burrs throughout the motor home and just yesterday she found one on a dish cloth in the drawer.  We don't know how that one got there.  It is not fun stepping on burrs.  Mama can testify to that.  We couldn't wait to get out of that campground.  Sorry, we planned to take photos, but the burr thing changed that.  The folks said yes ago that they traveled through Kansas with their dog, Sami, and she picked up some really large burrs. They said those were worst than mine.  :::shrugs shoulders:::

Our trip into Missouri was windy.  We have been through worse.  We are staying at the same place that we stayed last fall.  Scout is so happy to be here even though there are not treat trucks.   She immediately recognized the place and she wanted to walk her favorite trails.  Mama told her to slow down because we have a month.

One of our favorite trails.

Yep, the sniffing is good here.

Is It Easter Or Christmas?

The Easter Bunny visited our campground in Arlington, TX before we left.

So, we were quite surprised that our new campground seems to be waiting for Santa.

I am so confused!
I think we are living in a twilight zone.  BOL!

Leaving The Lone Star State...Again

Well folks, it is time for us to leave Texas. Scout is sad to leave here because she is addicted to the "treat trucks". She is not happy with the heat that has come in this week though. Mama told her that we are moving to cooler weather, at least for a little while.

Yesterday, Mama took Buddy to the store.  The folks were supposed to do their grocery shopping last night but Dad had to work late.  Mama thought she might have to make two trips because she needed food for our travels.  She was able to get everything in one trip.  She was quite impressed that she was able to put everything in her basket and in her seat compartment.  She said the bread, chips and donuts were a challenge though.  BOL!

This is what Buddy carried home yesterday.  Some of the items are hidden, which is unfortunate because the amount of items was impressive.
Mama said that she has only seen one other scooter while here.  She is approached almost every time she is out on her scooter by people asking questions about it.  Everyone seems to think it would be a fun way to travel and they really like the gas mileage that it gets.

The folks contributed to the economy while they were here.  Mama got a new laptop, new glasses, took her motorcycle class, both vehicles were inspected, a surge protector was purchased, a new Mi-Fi, new brakes for the Jeep and some accessories for Buddy.  I bet there are other things, but those are the major ones that we can remember.  Oh, Mama ordered us business cards for our blog.  We had those sent to our "home" address and will have them forwarded when we reach our next destination.  We have been asked if we had business cards several times and now we do!

Signing off from the great state of Texas.  See you in the Midwest!

Home Again - Part 3
