A Visit To Pike Place Market

Saturday, the folks took a trip to Pike Place Market in Seattle.  The market was founded in 1907.  It was a place for farmers and customers to meet face to face.

This is the famous sign that Mama has seen on TV many times.

The folks arrived early at the market and it was already packed.

Mama said there were some dogs there, but there is no way she would bring us into this mess.

This market is known for the fish market where they throw fish.  You may have seen that on TV.  Mama missed seeing them throw a fish, but Dad saw it.

There were several shops that sold flowers and they were priced really low.

They visited the gum wall. This is where people stick their chewed gum.

This wall is pretty complete with gum.

It looks like they are just starting on this wall.
The folks watched cheese being made and then they tried some.

The cheese is in a liquid form here at Beecher's Handmade Cheese store.

Cheese curds are in the background.
There were a lot of fruit and vegetables for sale.

The folks ate lunch at Lowell's which is a seafood restaurant.

Dad had a seafood platter.  He said it was okay.

Dad's clam chowder.

Mama had fish, fries and slaw.  She said the fries were the best part. The fish was very bland.

Mama hit the wrong button on her camera and started taking photos in black and white.  BOL!

This is the very first Starbucks. They did not go in because the line was wrapped around the corner.

Cruise ship that was docked.

People hanging out in downtown.

Downtown Seattle is quite pretty with the old buildings and big trees.

The folks didn't buy a thing while at the market.  Mama said they did contribute to the economy because they paid $17 to park and they ate lunch there.  Mama would have enjoyed it more if it hadn't been so crowded.  She is not fond of crowds.

Our Professional Pictures Have Arrived!

When we were at the Heart of America Greyhound event, Mama signed us up to have our picture taken by Frank Hansel.  She knew it was going to be a challenge because I do not like to stand still.  We were sent six photos today. There are two of us together and four single photos of us.  This is Mama's favorite.  We think it is probably two photos put together because we were not standing side by side and we don't think we were both looking at the camera at the same time.  Frank got rid of our leashes in the photo.  We think he did a great job!

Yep, I'm Still A Redneck

Mama says "You can take the dog out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the dog."  She is talking about me, of course.  BOL!    The other morning, Mama and I were walking.  We decided to walk down the sidewalk towards the office.  We were looking at the fair rides through the fence and then I did it.  I pooped.  Yep, I pooped right there on the sidewalk.  BOL!  Mama was so embarrassed.  I had already pooped two other times, so she thought it was safe.  It is never safe with me.  BOL!

Today, Scout came with us on our walk.  She normally prefers to stay at home, but sometimes she decides to come along.  We saw a bunny this morning.  It was pretty exciting.

These are my bunny watching ears.  BOL!
After we left the bunny area, Scout made another discovery.

Scout wouldn't get near it even when Mama picked it up. What it is?

Yep, Scout is scared of a rock.
Mama picked it up and found that someone was trying to hide poop under it.  Is it worse to hide poop under a rock or just do it on the sidewalk?  I am not sure, but mine got picked up.  BOL!

More Model A Cars

Mama and I were out for a walk this morning and we saw the Model A cars lined up for a photo.  We decided to take a closer look and we were treated to a "parade" as they left on their way to the car museum.

BOL!  He honked at me.
After we got back from looking at the cars, we were talking to the host.  She told us about the beaver that lives here.  We told her we had seen it and that we saw raccoons the other day.  She asked where we saw the beaver, so we showed her and there was a raccoon there!  She said someone saw five of them in a tree yesterday.

He posed for pictures.
Last night, the fairgrounds had all the rides going and there were a lot of people screaming as they enjoyed the rides.  We thought it was fun to watch them on the rides.  About 10 p.m., I wanted to go outside and then the fireworks started.  It surprised us, but it didn't scare me.  I watched them for a few minutes.  They weren't loud. They basically just lit up the sky.  After that, loud music started. We were not quite as thrilled with that, but it ended at 11 p.m.

The repairman came.  He looked at what we wanted fixed.  He said he would call Dad.  We haven't heard from him since.  Dad said he will probably just have to make the repairs himself.

Our heat wave ended yesterday.  Cooler days are head of us now.  The air conditioner appears to be okay, but we still don't trust it.  Mama crosses her fingers when she turns it on each day.  Dad said it may run for a long time.  He said it may have just needed oil.  He is still going to replace it.
