My Peaceful Protest

I was not happy that Dad left us to attend a business meeting in Washington DC.  I looked for him each night and was hopeful every time that I saw a Jeep.  It didn't matter that our Jeep was parked right outside the RV.

Dad finally arrived home Thursday night.  I decided I would show him I was not happy with him by staging a peaceful protest.  When he came in, I went to my food bowl and ignored him.  Ha!  Mama went outside to get something out of the car and that scared me because I thought she was leaving and that could destroy my protest plans.  She came in and I greeted her like she had been gone a week.  Yep, I showed Dad that he was missing out on my loving.  The next morning, Dad left for work and I didn't say good-bye.  Nope.  We were outside when he came home talking to the neighbors.  I watched him drive down the street and park the Jeep.  He got out and came over to talk to the neighbors.  Do you know what I did?  I turned completely around and wouldn't look at him.  Yep, all he saw was my butt.  BOL!  The neighbors roared with laughter.  The next morning, word has spread throughout the campground about my peaceful protest.  Everyone was asking if I had made up with Dad.  Mama told them that no, I had not and Dad said I was being immature and needed to grow up.  Seriously?  Later in the day, we all went for a walk and Mama handed Dad my leash.  We decided to call a truce at that point.   I think my peaceful protest was a success.  BOL!

Jack's Half-Sister Is At The Bridge :-(

As you may have figured out, we don't have a set plan for our blog. If there is nothing going on, we just don't blog.  This morning, we were discussing the blog over breakfast and decided there wasn't much to say.  We considered mentioning the death of Robin Williams and how sad Mama is over it.  She thinks it may bring a new light to the subject of depression.  She said he fought his demons for years and they finally won.  It is sad.

We also thought about telling you how I am the man of the house this week because Dad is in DC for meetings.  We decided that wasn't very interesting. 

It was 97 here yesterday.  It was hot, but that is not interesting.

Then we received an email and that caused us to blog. We received an email from Wanda's family.  Wanda is Jack's half-sister.  They let us know that Wanda and Jack are now together.  Yes, Wanda has died.  She was almost 12 and the best girl according to her family.  Her family is heartbroken.  Wanda's family reads our blog and sent Mama lots of support when Jack died. Mama always felt a connection to her because of Jack.  We are very sad to hear that Wanda is now at the Rainbow Bridge and we are sending her family lots of hugs and puppy kisses. She is no longer is pain and she is running like the wind.  Mama said that Jack is probably playing tour guide to his big sister.  RIP Wanda aka Quirky Wanda.

Twin Peaks

After the folks left the Flight Museum on Saturday, they stopped off for dinner at Red House Beer and Wine Shop for dinner.  It is a cute little place that has good reviews.

Mama ordered the Steak Frites which is grilled flank steak, sauteed onions and mushrooms on top of frites which are french fries.

Dad had a salad and Red House Paella.  The paella is prawns, clams, chicken, chorizo, roasted peppers, peas, paprika and saffron rice.

They both thought the food was good, but something happened that soured Mama a little.  The young waitress asked Mama if she wanted a refill on her soda.  Mama said "sure".  The waitress came out with a can of Diet Pepsi and filled Mama's glass right there at the table.  Mama thought that was really odd.  Mama started wondering if she would be charged for the refill and sure enough she was.

Mama didn't eat all her fries, so she brought them home and turned them into hash browns for breakfast on Sunday.

 Sunday, the folks visited Snoqualmie and North Bend, WA. This is where some of Twin Peaks was filmed.  The folks never watched the show, but they visited the falls and the cafe that appeared on the show.

Mama thought it was beautiful, but felt a little shaky when she looked down and saw people at the bottom.  There are people down there.

They then drove to the bottom to get photos there.

After leaving the falls, the folks ate lunch at Twede's which is where some of the scenes of Twin Peaks were shot.

The place was packed when the folks arrived and they got the last table.  The cafe is known for their cherry pie.  They serve breakfast all day and have a large selection of hamburgers to choose from.

The folks started out with onion rings as an appetizer.

 They both ordered the Twin Peaks burger which is 2 patties with bacon, ham, swiss and cheddar cheese.  Mama knew she wouldn't eat all of hers, so we had a doggy bag.

They did not order the cherry pie because they were stuffed.  The food was okay, but nothing special.   Scout and I enjoyed our burger.

Tourists definitely come to the cafe because a lot of them were outside taking photos according to the folks.

Mama has been researching where some of the scenes from Sleepless In Seattle were shot.  She loves that movie, but doubts she will make it to the houseboat where Tom Hanks lived in the movie.

We picked more blackberries yesterday and another cobble just came out of the oven.  BOL!

The beaver has been really active this week.  The humans all seem to think he is interesting to watch.  :::shrugs shoulders:::
