More Scenes From The RV Park

We are delighted that more people are putting up Christmas lights.  Mama asked Dad if we could get some lights to put on the inside of our windshield. We have seen several motor homes that have done that and it looks festival.  Dad said "Whatever you want."  Mama says we must do it this weekend before Dad changes his mind.

An action shot of us in the large dog run.

Another shot of the large dog run. The new sod is not doing well.

We can see horses from the dog run.

We think this guy is creepy!

Pink flamingos!

The forbidden lake.

Palm trees by the pool area.

Another shot of the forbidden lake.

Yep, the lake again.  We live across the lake.

We decided to check out the dog wash area.

Some poor dog has recently been here.

Golf carts that we can rent.

The very small dog run.

The Texas flag is everywhere.  We think it's pretty cool.  You don't see the Missouri flag at many places.

Here's Goldie.  She really is level.  Mama was just slanted.
Last night our Emeals dinner was Cowboy Combo.  It was made with ground beef, potatoes, onions and cheese.  Mama decided to add corn and bacon bits to it since we had them.  It turned out good.  She added some red pepper to give it a little spice.

Today, we are waiting impatiently for the mail delivery.  Mama ordered a GPS for geocashing and it is supposed to arrive today. She is very excited.  She can also use it for hiking.  She said we won't have to be afraid of getting lost when we go out on our own.

Mama's last food review for this week is on Luby's Cafeteria.  This is a place that has many locations around Houston and the folks wanted to try it the last time they were here, but never did.  You may have heard about this chain on the news. In 1991, 23 people were killed inside of one and 20 others were injured.  That is really all Mama knew about the place.  The killings took place in Killeen, TX.

Laundry Day!

Today was laundry day.  Mama decided to wash all the sheets, so she had a full load today.   She used her new wagon.  She said it was much easier than carrying it.

The laundry wagon.
While doing laundry, Mama talked to a lady that she met last week.  They have been here for a year.  Mama asked her the best places to shop.  It sounds like we need to go in the opposite direction from where we have been going.  Mama suspected that and planned on going that way this weekend.

Today is a much cooler day. We had rain yesterday.  It definitely doesn't feel or look like it is December.  The flowers are still going strong here.

This morning while we were walking Mama said "Joey, where is your boot?  Did we put it on you?"  I couldn't remember.  Scout couldn't remember either but said "It didn't seem like it took so long to get out the door.  It takes forever since we have to put a harness on Joey, then a collar and his boot."  We started retracing our steps and a few times Mama thought she saw the boot, but it was a sprinkler head.  We made it back to the RV and I refused to go back inside.  Mama looked in the door and saw my boot there.  Thank goodness!  She put it on me and off we went again.

Last night our Emeals dinner was skillet burritos.  They are made of black beans, cheddar cheese, salsa and cooked rice.  You place the ingredients on a tortilla and fold it into a burrito and then place it in a skillet and brown it.  Mama said it was good even though it didn't have meat in it.

Good news!  The management has put new dog bags in our dog run. Mama says they have the best bags.  They are large and thick.   Later in the day, someone cleaned up the mess in there.  However, someone has already messed it up this morning.  Grrrr!

There was an agent open house at our house yesterday. 20 agents filled out comment cards.  The comments were all good.  There were a few comments about our purple kitchen.  One agent said she had a potential buyer. We had a showing on Sunday, but those people said no to it. They didn't like the road.  The road (old highway) is one of the things that Mama really liked about it.  We are thinking maybe they had small children.  The neighbors are still thinking on it.  They may be thinking they can get a better deal on it the longer it stays on the market.

Mama ordered us bully sticks today as well as a few other items.  Yum!

Mama's restaurant review today is on China Border.

Nice Neighbors Left

The nice neighbors who gave us the Subway sandwich left yesterday.  Dad came home from work and asked if we scared them off. We told him he was silly, but you know what?  When we were walking this morning, we saw them. Maybe we did scare them off.  Actually, they moved to a lakeside site, so they moved up in the world.

We like not having neighbors on that side of us.  Mama says she can leave our door open and not feel like people are watching us.

This is our view now.  The sites are close together here. It's nice not having someone right next to us, but it probably won't last long.
Mama went to the office yesterday and asked them if we had to pay for our electric since we are here for a month.  They said yes.  We thought we had to, but Mama told them that she wrote down our meter reading when we arrived and it has not changed. Do you know what the lady said to Mama?  She said "Are you sure you are plugged in?  Do you have electric inside?"  There was another man standing there who just smiled at Mama.  Mama assured her that we had electric.  Mama said she should have said "Oh, let me go check."  Duh!  It has been in the 80's here and both of our AC units have been running.  I think we would have complained immediately if we didn't have electric inside.  The lady wrote down our site number on a post-it note with nothing else, so it's possible they will not come by to check on it. Mama is not impressed with the office.  She also told them that the large dog run was out of dog bags. The office lady said she knew, but hadn't gotten around to it.  Mama told her that people are not cleaning up after their dogs since there are no bags.  They were never good at cleaning up there, but without the bags, it has gotten really bad.  The office lady said "Ewww!"  They finally put bags in the dog run today. It took three days! Supposedly, you can be fined $20 for not cleaning up after your dog. Well,  they are missing out on a lot of money in that dog run.  BOL!

Last night, we watched our neighbor rope a "bull".  It is not a real bull, but it was still neat to see him do it.

The Bull

The Emeals dinner last night was Beef Tips over Noodles with Sauteed Yellow Squash.  Mama fixed it in the crock pot instead of baking it for three hours as the instructions told her to do.  The one thing that was different about this recipe is that is called for ginger ale.  It had onion soup mix, cream of mushroom soup and ginger ale.  The folks said it was good. We didn't have any of it.

Beef Tips over Noodles and Sauteed Yellow Squash.  Mama mixed it all together so that it would still be good when Dad came home. We never know what time he will be home.
Saturday night, the folks ate at Escalantes Mexican Grille.  You can click the link for Mama's review.  She said it was GOOD.

He'll Scratch Your Eyes Out!

That is what Mama said when we came across this guy on our walk this morning.   Scout was very curious, but I wasn't.  I saw what a cat did to my Cuz Deccy.  It was not a pretty sight.

It is very warm here in Houston.  We have been in the 80's.  Mama says a person shouldn't sweat in December.  She and Dad looked at motor homes this weekend and she said it was very hot inside of them.  They found a few that they liked, but we can't do anything until we sell our house.  We haven't heard a word on the people who were interested in it.

Friday night, the folks shopped at a Walmart Neighborhood Market.  They had never been to one before.  It is a Walmart grocery store.  It was less crowded than a regular Walmart, but they were out of a few things.  Saturday, they stopped by a Fiesta.  This is a grocery store with a lot of shops inside of it.  It is less than a mile from us and the folks are going to try shopping there this Friday.  Mama was very excited because she found her favorite snack.  She thinks she bought the last bag of these at the Walmart in Union, MO over six weeks ago. She had gone back three weeks in a row and they didn't have any more.  She couldn't find them anywhere else until she went to Fiesta.  She wanted to buy two bags, but Dad told her she could get another bag next week.  BOL!

Mama's treasured snack.
The folks ate out a lot this weekend.  They ate at Annie's Hamburgers for lunch on Saturday.  Here is her review:  That One Restaurant.

The Wagon Is Here!

Mama ordered a wagon to carry the laundry.  It arrived yesterday.

This is what is looks like when it is folded and in its' bag.

It easily converts to this:
It has drink holders in the front and dividers inside.

It is a little bigger than she expected or maybe it seems that way inside our RV.  It will easily hold two bags of laundry.  It holds up to 150 pounds.

Mama hopes that it is okay to bring it inside the laundry room.  It definitely will make laundry days easier for her.  However, while staying here, she could have rented a golf cart for just $6 a day.

A nice lady saw Mama carrying the box with the wagon in it from the office and offered her a ride in her golf cart.  (Yes, Mama could have taken it out of the box, but she wasn't sure if it was all put together.) Mama hit her head while getting into the golf cart.  BOL!    People are really friendly here.
