Cadillac Ranch & RV Museum

Did you guess where I did my graffiti?  I did it at Cadillac Ranch!   There are ten Cadillacs that are buried head first in the ground and people are allowed to paint on them.

The cars from the highway.

I think I should paint here.

There are cows here.  I am not sure I like this.
Yes, there were cows walking near us.  We were not thrilled about that.  Dad said it would be okay.
Dad decided to help me paint.  I wanted to do a paw print, but Dad thought my name would be better.

Dad added Scout's name.  We wanted to add "Two Greyhound Town" to it, but Dad said it was too windy to write all that.

It looks good!
Scout agrees, but thinks her name should have been first.

You can even see it far away!
We gave our paint can to a couple who came without one.  They thought that was pretty cool.

As promised, here are more photos from the RV Museum.  The link has more photos from the museum that you may find interesting.

RV Museum

We forgot to tell you a funny that happened on our way here on Wednesday.  We were stopping for gas in Colorado and we took the wrong exit.  It looked like we were headed for a toll plaza.  Mama said "Oh, no!"  Dad told her to get money out.  It turns out that we were headed into a restricted area.  BOL!  There were soldiers at the plaza.  Dad told the soldier "Well, I obviously took a wrong turn".  The soldier said "Follow me."  He then yelled "HALT TRAFFIC!"  All the traffic stopped and we did a U-turn.  BOL!  It was pretty funny.

The winds are calm this morning, but yesterday, it was crazy.  We had a binder on the dash that blew out of the motor home when we opened the door.

Scout and I think having our own dog run is really neat.  We are going to miss it.  We don't think the next place we are staying even has a public one.  :-(

We have our own supply of bags!

Here we are in the public run.

Our site.
The folks visited the Jack Sisemore RV Museum.  This is a FREE museum that is located behind the Jack Sisemore dealership.  The folks thought the museum was a lot of fun.

The museum also has motorcycles.

The side item is an air conditioner.

The most "famous" RV that they have is from RV movie with Robin Williams.  It is the bus that Jeff Daniels' drove.
Dad in the RV from the movie RV.

Visitors are allowed to climb in and touch most of the RVs in the museum.  There are just a few that they ask that you not climb in due to their age.

Mama took a ton of photos of the inside of the RVs, but that might be boring for many of you.  UPDATE:  We just had a request to include some of the inside photos, so we will put those in our next post.

The folk ate at the Big Texan.  We will talk about that tomorrow as this post is getting really long.

We Are In Amarillo, TX!

We made it to Amarillo, TX.  It wasn't easy.  We had to face a snowstorm, a dust storm and high winds for the last three hours of our trip.  The winds were so high that we had to slow down to 45 mph because the awnings on our slides were trying to come out.  They were banging and made Dad nervous.  We pulled over a few times to make sure they were okay.  It was fine once we had buildings to shield us from the winds, but that was only for the last five miles of our trip.  It took us twelve hours to get here.  We missed Survivor which is our favorite show. Mama said we may be able to watch it online.

We understand that not everyone was able to see the YouTube video that we had on our site yesterday.  It was George Strait singing "Amarillo By Morning".

Here are some photos from our trip.

Leaving our campground at Cherry Creek State Park in Aurora, CO.

We heard they ended up with several inches.

Bear?  We didn't see any, but Mama had our bear bell ready.  BOL!

Elk...we didn't see any.

Our first time in New Mexico.

New Mexico was a little boring at times.

New Mexico seems to have a lot of trees, but no grass.

Pretty hills in New Mexico.

Bye, New Mexico!

Texas, our second home!
Dad surprised us with a cool campground here in Amarillo.  We have our own private dog run!  It has a picnic table for the folks. There is a bigger "public" dog run that we checked out this morning.  Scout and I did some running.  Scout loves to run.

We took a quick walk around the campground this morning because I insisted.  I love the dog run, but I need to patrol my surroundings.  The campground is a little cluttered with lawn equipment and stuff, but the owners must love dogs to put in the private dog runs.  There are seven of them.  We have the biggest one.

We would love it here if the wind died down. It is extremely windy here. The winds are gusting to 50 mph and when they are not doing that, they are constantly blowing.  It is very noisy inside our home.  It is cold.  The high will be about 40, but with the high winds, it feels very cold.  Tomorrow is supposed to be better and we have an outing planned with the folks that should be fun.  Hint:  I get to do some graffiti.

Our dog run!

The folks are going to tour the RV museum that is here today and then they are going to eat at a steak place that is said to be a big tourist trap.  They like doing the silly tourist things

We Are On Vacation!

We are on our way to our next destination, Dallas.  However, we are taking a few days of  vacations first. Where are we going for some rest and relaxation? Amarillo, TX! Mama started singing Amarillo By Morning as soon as Dad asked her if she wanted to go there.  I don't think he had ever heard the song or maybe it was her singing. BOL!

Central City And Black Hawk

I forgot to tell you that yesterday when Scout was laying in the sand, that she had sand all over her tongue.  Mama had to rinse it off with water.  BOL!   It was funny!

We also forgot to tell you that yesterday was our one year anniversary of being on the road.  We don't know if it really counts since we went home for six weeks though.  That six weeks at home really messed up our numbers.  BOL!

Our electric never went off yesterday, but Mama spoke to a lady who said that it did go off in several parts of the park.  I guess we were lucky.  It was 80 degrees and our air conditioning was on. Speaking of weather...it is going to snow tonight.  Yep, you read that correctly. Our last night here and it is going to snow.  They said we might get a few inches, but the roads will probably be just wet.  We hope so because we are leaving tomorrow. You don't want to know what Mama said when she heard the weather forecast this morning.  BOL!

The folks drove to Breckenridge, CO on Saturday.  They were disappointed to see that most everything was closed. They ended up eating at a bar in Frisco.

Burger at Moose Jaw - The burger was really good.  The fries were not.

Going into Eisenhower Tunnel

They then drove to Central City and Black Hawk which are located right next to each other and are casino towns.  There are modern casinos as well as old casinos.  The folks played penny slots.  Mama won $15, but Dad said they ended up loosing $6.

The folks ate at the Ameristar Casino buffet.  They were seated next to two women. They had six plates full of food in front of them.  The waitress asked them where the receipt was for the second person and they became rude and said something about the one woman not eating, just waiting.  Well, whenever the waitress turned her back, the lady jammed food into her mouth.  The waitress saw her, but I guess she didn't want to start trouble.  The lady who didn't pay had a monitoring device on her ankle and maybe that is why the waitress didn't want to do anything about it.

Scenery along the way.

Waterfall along the highway.
Mama found a free book for Kindle readers today that might be of interest to some of you, especially the other full-time RVers who read our blog.  Here is the link: Dear Bob and Sue  It was free this morning, so please check the price before ordering.  Here is a summary of the book on the Pixel of Ink site:

This complete version of Dear Bob and Sue chronicles the journey of Matt and Karen Smith, who took a mid-career break to travel to all 58 U.S. National Parks. Written as a series of emails to their friends, Bob and Sue, they describe their sense of awe in exploring our national parks, and share humorous and quirky observations. The national parks are among the most stunning places in America – pristine wilderness, geologic wonders, and magnificent wildlife – places everyone should put on their must-see-before-I-die list. Matt and Karen take you along as they visit them all.
Unlike a traditional guidebook, this is one couple’s perspective on the joys and challenges of traveling together. This is a story of discovery and adventure: chased by a grizzly, pushed off the trail by big horn sheep, they even survived a mid-air plane collision. Dear Bob and Sue is the next best thing to visiting all the parks in person.

Mama loves the Pixel of Ink site.  They offer free books every day.
