Weekend Eating

It has been kind of a boring week here since Mama has been sick.  Since she was feeling bad on Monday, she ordered Pizza Hut for dinner.  Yum!  Well, we just had a few of the pizza bones, but still yum!  Tuesday night she fixed one of her favorite meals that is so easy.  It is from one of her favorite cookbooks which is by Campbell's.  It is a short cut lasagna.  Mama changes it a bit though and uses meat lasagna and she uses a five Italian cheese.

Short Cut Lasagna
Speaking of food, do you want to see what the folks ate on Saturday night?  You know you do!  BOL!  They went to their favorite Mexican restaurant.  Actually, they didn't know there was one here.  They have eaten at the chain in Houston many times.  It is called Pappasito's Cantina.  Dad says the food is excellent, but more expensive than most Mexican restaurants.  Mama was disappointed that they do not serve the avocado salsa here like they do in Houston.  The Houston locations serve a regular salsa and the avocado salsa.  Another difference they found is that the location here serves green and red peppers and they do not do that in Houston.

Dad's meal had shrimp, steak and an enchilada.

Mama had the burrito with steak, refried beans and rice.

Do you want to know what they did on Sunday? The folks went to Camping World and bought a surge protector for the motor home.  Dad has been wanting to get one ever since we were camping with Grandpa several years ago (BJ - before Joey) and when Grandpa plugged in, it burned up the electrical.  Mama said she saw smoking coming out of their RV.  Mama doesn't remember all the details, but there was something wrong with the outlet that they plugged in, like maybe it was wired and marked as a 30 amp and they had a 50 amp.  It was not good and caused a lot of damage.  Dad finally broke down and bought us a surge protector.  It was $350 and that was on sale.  He didn't want to spend that much, but decided we had pushed our luck long enough by not having one.

A dog shirt that Camping World sells.  I NEED THIS!  BOL!

On the way home from Camping World, the folks stopped for dinner at BJ's Restaurant.  They ate at this chain when we stayed in Houston the very first time.  Can you believe that we have been on the road for almost two years?

The steak was good.  I know because I got a couple of bites!

I think I have caught you up on the weekend happenings.

A Visit To Reunion Tower

We haven't been around for a few days because Mama has a cold and hasn't felt like helping me with the blog. She said her head was "too foggy".  I hate when she has a cold because she coughs, sneezes and blows her nose.  She scares us with all those noises. Eek!

Saturday, the folks decided to visit Dallas.  Their first stop was to a scooter store, Vespa Dallas.  The funny thing is that last year before they bought Buddy, they ate at a Jack In The Box across from that same scooter store.  Mama admired the scooters from across the street, but they didn't look.  She didn't realize they would be visiting that same scooter store on Saturday and Dad didn't either.  Mama said it was fun shopping there and they bought a few accessories for Buddy.

After spending money at the scooter store, they visited Reunion Tower. Reunion Tower was built in 1978.  It is about 1,000 feet from Dealey Plaza which is where President Kennedy was shot.

The tower lights up at night and the colors change for different events.

Mama wasn't really thrilled about going to top of the tower.  She didn't think it was worth the price of admission which was $16 a person.  Dad really wanted to go though, so they went.  Their first stop was the Cloud Nine restaurant.  It is located one floor below the observation deck.  The restaurant rotates.  Mama thought that was pretty cool.  They ordered their lunch and sat at their table as their view changed.  The food was actually good.  Mama ordered the Farmland Burger and chips for $12. Dad ordered the BBQ Turkey Burger and a salad.  They were both happy with their lunch.

This is one of the many views from their table.

See the people standing in the street?  They are standing on the X that marked the spot where JFK was shot.  Mama finds this area interesting, but such a sad part of our history.

Dad works in one of these buildings.  It is one of the beige ones in the back.

Cool bridge
Nice landscaping.

Pretty lights inside observation deck.

Screens let you see over landmarks in Dallas.
Mama said she enjoyed visiting Reunion Tower but what made it really special was the rotating restaurant. She said she enjoyed that much more than just being on the observation tower.  She still thinks it is expensive though.

On the way home, they passed by some cattle.  BOL!  Mama would have liked to stopped, but she really wasn't feeling that good and was ready to get home.

The Dog Park Is Open!

The campground has installed a dog park.  We thought it was going to be near the office.  There is a nice place for it there, but there isn't any shade.  We were told last week that they were starting on it, but each day we passed by the office and no dog park.  Imagine our surprise when we saw a fenced area in the woods. We came across a Cocker Spaniel who was headed to the dog park.  His owner told us it opened on Tuesday.  We couldn't believe it opened without us knowing about it.

The park is really nice.  It is going to have nice shade during the summer.

It has a gate that can be closed to make it into two fenced areas instead of a large one.

It is definitely nice to be off leash again.

Scout wanted to run, but I was too busy to play.  I had to mark my areas, of course.  It will be a job keeping it marked so that all the other dogs know it is mine.  BOL!

How To Stalk A Squirrel

Spy on the squirrel from far away.

Keep your eye on him.

Mmmmm....he looks tasty.

It is time to move a little closer.

Scout, Mama needs to keep the camera on me!

Sorry, Joey, I was just having fun.

Okay, let's move closer.

Here I go.

Notice that I get low to the ground.

I think we can take him.

Back me up, Scout.

He's moving, Joey!

I'm so close.

I can almost taste him!

I need more leash.  Darn, foiled again!
