I'm Like A Box Of Chocolates...

...you never know what you are going to get.  BOL!   Oh sure, I barked and tried to play with the other dogs today, but when Mama brought me inside the event venue, I was a good boy.  I loved all the activity.

This morning, the folks set out at 7:30 a.m. to visit greyhound farms.  They had a big line of cars and they were supposed to follow each other.  Well, about two cars up from the folks car, that person lost sight of the car in front of him which caused all the other cars to go in the wrong direction.  They turned into an adult book store parking lot and waited until they could get in touch with some one who knew where they were going. BOL!  They got the directions and turned around.  They arrived at the greyhound farm and walked and walked and walked.  They arrived where the greyhounds were having lure training and found that the first part of the group had parked right there!  They only got to see one race.  Mama was disappointed, but at least they got to see one.  They then had to walk all the way back to their cars. They then drove to another greyhound farm.  Mama found the farm tours to be somewhat sad. There are so many dogs there and you know that not all of them will find homes.

The folks then drove to the Greyhound of Fame.  They didn't tour it since they have done that in the past. They just did shopping in the gift shop.

The folks stocked up on chocolate at Russell Stover's Outlet.

Scout and I participated in a find the Bunny Egg contest.  IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!  Mama and I ran to find the eggs.  I touched then with my nose and Mama put them in our bag.  Scout and Dad walked behind us and only got four.  We got at least 20.  We didn't find the Bunny Egg though. We just found eggs with treats and tootsie rolls.

Waiting for the contest to begin. You can see some eggs in the photo.

Sizing up the competition.

Scout doesn't have her head in the competition.

I had to rest after hunting for eggs.
We are going to show you something really rare.  It is a picture of Mama with us.  She hates to have her photo taken, but she did it today.  I think it is a nice one of the three of us.

Tomorrow there is a class on corns and I am the greyhound who will have his corn removed.  YIKES!  Mama is excited and nervous about it.  She just hopes that I behave myself.  You never know.  BOL!

Saw My Bio Daddy!

This afternoon, we walked past the Greyhound Hall of Fame. My bio Daddy was not happy. He started barking and running in front of the window. He was not happy that I was on his property. It's not like I was coming asking for money or anything. Sheesh! Mama just wanted to have our photo taken in front of the sign. The Hall of Fame lady put him in the back room and came out to meet me since I was one of his sons. We told her that we didn't want to upset him. She said he carries on like that when any dog walks past the Hall of Fame. He is like a real watch dog. We are not like that at all. We don't bark. A burglar would have to trip over us to get hurt.

Mama and Daddy went to a greyhound farm today. They saw puppies. They came home smelling like them. They did buy us some good treats at the event, so that was good. Also, Mama brought us home part of her hamburger from dinner, so we guess we will forgive her.

Jack,
Whose bio Daddy doesn't want him around

Here he is....

...my biological Daddy!

Mama and Daddy went to the Greyhound Hall of Fame yesterday and met him. Mama said she can see where I got my good looks. She said Talented Mr. Ripley is very sweet. He lives at the Greyhound Hall of Fame. Mama saw his award for being in the hall of fame.

Scout's Grandfather is there, too, but not him, just his award.

Our Great Grandfather's award is also there.

There are greyhounds camping next to us. Do you want to know how many? 15! That's right, there are 7 in one motor home and 8 in another. Yikes! They have set up a long pen between the two motor homes so they can just come in and out and they run from one end of the pen to the other. Scout and I were surprised to see other greyhounds even though Mama kept telling us we would.

Mama and Daddy took a trolley tour of Abilene last night. The trolley came right to the campground and picked them up. They said it was interesting. Scout and I just waited here wondering if they were going to take us to Sonic for the free root beer floats. They didn't. They came home and took us for a long walk though.

Today, Mama and Daddy will leave us again for a while. They will do some shopping at the greyhound event and then they get to go to a greyhound farm. Mama is excited about that. Tonight, they will go back to the Greyhound Hall of Fame because it is opening tonight just for the greyhound event and offering a discount on shopping.

Tomorrow is even a busier day and we may go with them for some of the seminars. Tomorrow night is the fun run!

Jack's Bio

I've already written quite a bit about my dogs, but I thought I should properly introduce them.

Jack was born on January 3, 2004 in Kansas. He had a short career of only eight races. He came in second twice. His last race was on 10/27/2005. We do not know his whereabouts from that time until about March of 2006.

Jack was found in a barn along with 24 other abandoned greyhounds. The barn was about to be torn and before it was bulldozed, it was checked. They found the 25 greyhounds that were left for dead. I am not sure how long they had been left there. Five of the greys were brought to St. Louis on Easter weekend. Jack was put in a foster home along with his half brother, Woody.

My husband and I met Jack at a Petco meet and greet. I was not interested in a male or a brindle. I really wanted the little fawn girl that was there, but since she wouldn't potty on lead, she was not right for us as we did not have a fenced yard at that time. A few days later, the group called and asked us if we wanted to participate in a parade with the greys. We said yes and I walked Jack. We were amazed that Jack was not scared of the bands, fire engines or other loud noises from a parade. He loved the kids. We decided that he was the dog for us. We planned on waiting a few weeks, but circumstances changed and my husband had to travel for an unknown amount of time. I didn't want to be home alone, so Jack came to us immediately.

We changed Jack's name from his racing name because we wanted to give him a brand new start on life. Also, his foster mom called him Ricky and that is my brother-in-law's name. I don't think he would like a dog being called his name.

Jack is such a funny guy. He makes me laugh every day. He prances when he walks. He loves his stuffies and throws them up in the air and catches them. He loves to hear them squeak. Jack loves to move me along when I'm walking down the hall of our house. I guess I don't move fast enough for him. He head butts me in the behind. He gets so excited when my husband gets home from work that he can't control himself... I mean, he has to run. We do not encourage this and it usually ends up in him getting yelled at. Zoomies are not safe in the house. Jack broke through a wall once. Yikes! So, we discourage running in the house now. Jack is such a joy to us. I can't imagine a better dog.

I just found out yesterday that Jack's real Daddy... TalentedMrripley lives at the Greyhound Hall of Fame in Abilene, KS. We hope to take a trip to Abilene next year and meet him.

Home Again - Part 3

Well, we just realized that we didn't finish telling you about the rest of our trip home.  I don't know if we even remember the res...
