Sock Monkeys!!!!

Mama stopped by Petco today to find something to de-stink Scout and guess what they had?  Sock Monkeys!  Guess how much they were?  They were on clearance for $.70.  Their tag said they originally cost $12, but the sign said $19.99.  Regardless, they were $.70 today. Mama bought each of us one!

OMG! Sock Monkeys!

Give them to us!
Bite, bite, bite

He smells or maybe it's me or the carpet.
I think mine is broke.

Not mine.

He likes to wrestle.

His arms and legs are going every which way.

Take that...sock monkey.

Thanks, Mama, I love him!

A Weekend Of Re-Visits

This was the first weekend that the folks didn't go sightseeing.  It was a cloudy and rainy weekend. We have had rain for the past ten days. Dad decided to wax the RV in between the rain. Well, he waxed one side of it.  Mama went shopping. She shopped at Joanne's Fabric and Crafts. She bought more yarn for dish clothes and hot pads. How may do we need? LOL  She also visited Petco, Petsmart and the grocery store, H.E.B.  She bought that green salsa she has been wanting to try. She is not impressed. Actually, she said she has had a dry mouth since she ate it on chips and that was two days ago. It is HOT!  She likes it on breakfast burritos though.

The folks decided to re-visit their favorite restaurants here. Saturday night, they ate at Sawgrass Steak House.   Mama ordered the same thing she ordered the last time and she didn't think it was as good. She now thinks if you think something is the best you have ever had, maybe you shouldn't go back.

Breaded Mushrooms - a little overdone

Rib Eye with garlic butter and Loaded Baked Potatoe
We tasted the Rib Eye and we thought it was excellent. We think Mama is a little nuts. Dad thought his was just as good as the first time.

Yesterday, they decided to go back Pappasito's Catina.  This is the Mexican place that Dad thinks is the best they have had in Houston.  Mama loved their green salsa the first time, but this time, she didn't like it. They serve their red salsa warm. She liked that one.

Dad's plate - not sure what it is . It's a combination. Mama had to snap the photo quick because it embarrasses Dad to have photos of his food taken.
Mama's burrito had steak and beans in it. Mama said the steak was awesome!   How does this compare to Los Cucos that Mama decided last week was the best Mexican place in Houston?  Mama says it is really hard for her to decide. Papa's is definitely more expensive. Papa's was almost $20 for her meal. Los Cucos was $13. Papas probably was the best, but Los Cucos is a very close second.

This is the covered outside sitting area at Pappa's. It stormed while they were there, so it's a good thing no one was sitting there since it all got wet.

Last night, they decided to try Wings N More. It is a sports bar. They decided to start out with an appetizer.  It was not breaded mushrooms. Can you believe that? It was fried pickles. Mama had fried pickles years ago at a place call Hatfields And McCoys.  They served everything fried.  It was back when she could eat shrimp and she had good memories of it.
Fried Pickles
Mama said the pickles were different, but she wouldn't order them again.

The both ordered the combo plate which had hot wings and tenders. Mama had slaw.  Dad had potato salad.  Mama's slaw was a little dry. Dad said the potato salad was very good.  Mama liked the wings. They were fried and then dipped in hot sauce. The tenders were good. She chose honey mustard and chipotle ranch as her dipping sauces. They did not bring us any leftovers.

This weekend is the dog show. The folks already have their meals planned out.  LOL  They are going back to the place that they saw on Food Network, but was closed when they arrived.  It is on the way to the dog show. Sunday, they will try out Crabby Daddy's. The reviews are not very good, but Dad said they have been other places that didn't have the best reviews and it ended up being good.

Oh, my goodness!  There is so much to do in Cleveland. Mama already has our weekends planned. We will tell you more about that later.

Additional Clues

We are going to Ohio, but so far the city has not been guessed.  Clue #2:  Mama has told two people here where we are going and they both said "Ewww".  When asked if they had been there, they said no.  I think they said that because when you think of a vacation destination it is not as high on the list as lets say Marco Island or Washington DC.  We have never been there and we are excited to explore the city.  Clue #3:  Drew Carey grew up there.

The ducklings were in our yard when we got up this morning.  Mama thinks they are so cute.   The adults don't quack.  They make a whistling sound.  The park manager puts food out for the ducks, so there are a lot of them. We have a few pairs of mallard ducks.

Would you believe that our temps were in the 70's most of yesterday?  It's true!

I think the folks are going to stay close to home this weekend.  Dad wants to wax the RV. He also needs to get the oil changed on the car. Mama said she wants to go to Petco, Michaels and H.E.B.   H.E.B. is a grocery store here. She wants to buy a jar of their green salsa.  They advertise it all the time on TV.

Have a nice weekend!

Saturday Night

We didn't do much today. Daddy split wood and Mama cleaned a little. Scoutie had an upset stomach. We are not sure what caused that, but she seems to be okay now.

If Scout is okay tomorrow, then we are going to a meet and greet at Petco. We LOVE meet and greets. We always know when we are going because Mama will wipe us down with doggy wipes so that we smell really good and then she will brush our teeth. She will also do our nails. We get all fancied up because we're goin' to town. LOL

Mama said she will try and remember to bring the camera so you can see us being charming at Petco.

Your friend,
Jack the "greyt" hound

Jack's Bio

I've already written quite a bit about my dogs, but I thought I should properly introduce them.

Jack was born on January 3, 2004 in Kansas. He had a short career of only eight races. He came in second twice. His last race was on 10/27/2005. We do not know his whereabouts from that time until about March of 2006.

Jack was found in a barn along with 24 other abandoned greyhounds. The barn was about to be torn and before it was bulldozed, it was checked. They found the 25 greyhounds that were left for dead. I am not sure how long they had been left there. Five of the greys were brought to St. Louis on Easter weekend. Jack was put in a foster home along with his half brother, Woody.

My husband and I met Jack at a Petco meet and greet. I was not interested in a male or a brindle. I really wanted the little fawn girl that was there, but since she wouldn't potty on lead, she was not right for us as we did not have a fenced yard at that time. A few days later, the group called and asked us if we wanted to participate in a parade with the greys. We said yes and I walked Jack. We were amazed that Jack was not scared of the bands, fire engines or other loud noises from a parade. He loved the kids. We decided that he was the dog for us. We planned on waiting a few weeks, but circumstances changed and my husband had to travel for an unknown amount of time. I didn't want to be home alone, so Jack came to us immediately.

We changed Jack's name from his racing name because we wanted to give him a brand new start on life. Also, his foster mom called him Ricky and that is my brother-in-law's name. I don't think he would like a dog being called his name.

Jack is such a funny guy. He makes me laugh every day. He prances when he walks. He loves his stuffies and throws them up in the air and catches them. He loves to hear them squeak. Jack loves to move me along when I'm walking down the hall of our house. I guess I don't move fast enough for him. He head butts me in the behind. He gets so excited when my husband gets home from work that he can't control himself... I mean, he has to run. We do not encourage this and it usually ends up in him getting yelled at. Zoomies are not safe in the house. Jack broke through a wall once. Yikes! So, we discourage running in the house now. Jack is such a joy to us. I can't imagine a better dog.

I just found out yesterday that Jack's real Daddy... TalentedMrripley lives at the Greyhound Hall of Fame in Abilene, KS. We hope to take a trip to Abilene next year and meet him.
