Mama has been busy loom knitting all week. I didn't know what she was making but it kept getting bigger and bigger and then she stuffed it. A NEW TOY FOR ME!
What do you mean that it is not for me? It looks like a toy. Mama, I know that I have toys that have looked like this. If you put a face on it and put some squeakers in it, it is the perfect toy. :::sigh::: I was told it is not for me and I am not supposed to touch it. I have a secret....when Mama goes into the bathroom, I touch it. :::snicker:::
What the heck is it?
It is a "Draft Buster". Mama had been putting blankets in front of the couch to keep the air from coming in but that looked really messy and we kind of needed the blankets. A light bulb went off in her head and she decided she could loom knit one. She has to make a second one for the other couch. It will be her project for next week.
We are still confused on our "LIKE" button. We know that some people can see it. We are wondering if people who can see it have Facebook accounts. Mama worked on it yesterday and a friend who couldn't see it at first can now see it and she is on Facebook. We don't know. We just thought it would be a fun thing to add to our blog, but it seems to have problems. BOL!
We sat outside yesterday, but it was windy. The leaves kept hitting us and then dust started flying. We decided it wasn't worth it. We sat outside in the evening but Mama said she was being bitten by bugs, so we came in after about a half hour. We did sleep in this morning until 6:30, so Mama was really happy with us.

Do You Like Us?
We have a lot of visitors every day, but we don't get a lot of comments. Mama understands that because she reads blogs and doesn't always comment. I told Mama it would be nice if we could add a "LIKE" button to our blog and people could just "LIKE" us if they don't feel like leaving a comment. She did a little research and found us a "LIKE" button. See it? It is right under "Do You Like Us?"
Yesterday, we sat outside and really enjoyed the nice weather. We plan to do more of that today. Mama is happy because I didn't wake her up in the middle of the night to go out. She said the fresh air must have made me tired.
We really like our new laptop, but we are still working out some issues. Mama can't get the pictures from her phone to load onto the computer. It is very frustrating as there is a cute photo of me squirrel watching yesterday. The phone and the computer refuse to connect to each other. We think she needs to get a new phone. BOL!
Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! The folks don't really celebrate. Mama told Dad she would like to BBQ tonight but needed help getting the grill out. He told her they would just go out tonight. I think they are going to Steak N Shake because it will be late by the time Dad gets home and most restaurants will be packed.

Things Are Looking Up
After two days of not getting treats from the golf cart man, I was really getting upset with Scout. I thought she really messed things up for us. Last night, we were out walking and whose RV did we pass by? The golf cart man who has the treats that Scout likes. He talked to us and then said "I know what you want!" He went to his RV and got us treats. We saw where he keeps his stash! BOL! Mama is now worried that Scout will beg for treats whenever we walk by. Boy, you should have seen how excited Scout was when she got the "good stuff" from him. BOL!
Our weather has finally improved. Yes, we know we didn't get all the snow and really cold that others did, but it has been cold here. We had threats of freezing rain, but were lucky that it didn't happen here. We have really given our furnace a workout since we have been here. Yesterday things started improving and now we are going to be in the 60's and 70's for as far out as they can forecast. YIPPEE! We will be able to sit outside again.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention that on Monday someone knocked on our door. Do you know who it was? It was the UPS man. Do you know what he brought us? BULLY STICKS! BOL! Yep, things are definitely looking up.

Scout Is Going To Get Us Banned....
....from getting treats.
I told you that there is a man who works here who drives a golf cart. He stops for all the dogs and hands out treats. Scout gets excited whenever she see a golf cart and very disappointed when they don't stop. We thought there was only one cart that held the treats, but yesterday we discovered that a second golf cart carries treats. The man stopped to talk to us and then he handed us a treat. I took mine and I happily ate it. Do you know what Scout did? She sniffed it and refused it. The nice man offered her another flavor and she refused. He offered her a third flavor and she refused. You see he didn't have the same treats as the other man. The folks and I were embarrassed by Scout and her attitude about the treats not meeting her standards. Mama told her that she is going to get us banned from getting treats here. :::sigh:::
We saw more dogs being walked this weekend. It was fun meeting all the residents. Miss Woe even came out. She is the greyhound who lives here. We were happy to see her. She is still a little scared of us. Mama says we come on way too strong for her. She had a foster brother recently, but he found his forever home. She is hoping to have another foster living with her soon. We hope so too because it will be fun to have another greyhound in the park.

This Is Not The Texas That I Know
This morning, we didn't have water. Yep, our outdoor faucet froze. Apparently, we were supposed to keep the water running inside. We have our hose wrapped which is what the signs around the park said we needed to do. Our hose is also heated, so we thought we would be fine. We won't make that mistake again.

Changes
Our new location
Change #1
We have arrived at our new destination. Any guesses where it is? We were also here last year. The same park, but a different site. There were predictions of ice here yesterday, but we just had a cold rain. The weather here is colder than Houston this week.Change #2
We have a new laptop! Mama got really tired of the battery not holding a charge longer than 20 minutes and then the power cord didn't want to charge it. She literally had to wiggle the cord to get it into a position to charge and then she had to hold it in that place to make it charge. It is hard to type with one hand. We haven't been posting much because of our computer problems.
We are learning how to use this computer because it has Windows 8. Mama is catching on to it, but it will take a while to get all of our favorite links setup. We didn't know if it would be hard to get our pictures to load from our camera, but it worked easily. Mama was a little concerned about that. This laptop has a touch screen and Mama really likes it and I think it is cool.
Last Thursday, the folks visited our "address". We use a mail forwarding service through Escapees which is a RV club. The folks drove there to have a look around and they were able to pick up their mail. The club is really nice because they have a care center for members if they become ill. They are able to receive medical treatment and while still living in their RV and they also have meals delivered. They also have a rec room that Mama checked out. Women were sewing, quilting and doing other crafts. Mama said she was the youngest one there. BOL! The campground was pretty nice and the rates are really low for members.
It sounds like we have a busy day ahead of us with doing laundry and setting up this computer.

Me keeping an eye on things.
Oh, there is something big happening tomorrow night. The fun police will be back in town. Yep, that is right, Dad is coming home and it looks like we will be together for the rest of the year! We are leaving here later this week and heading to our next destination. We were supposed to head to California after Christmas but those plans were canceled. We were quite disappointed. Mama kept us busy though and we did fine.

Pep In My Step
It's me, Scout, to tell you all something. Normally, I walk around like Eeyore. I drag along without too much enthusiasm. Mama is always telling me to pick up the pace. Well, today, I had a pep in my step. I was a happy girl. We were all having a great walk. Do you know what happened? Joey peed on me! That's right, he peed on my nose. My pep is now gone. I don't think it will ever return.

Contentment - Part 2
We have had a busy day. This morning, Mama finally defrosted the freezer. It needed it. Then, she took us to McDonald's for lunch. We had McNuggets and fries! Yum! We sat outside for a while and then we came in to watch The Butler. Scout and I fell asleep and that is how we get to our contentment pictures.
After the movie, Mama and I took a nice long walk without Scout. Scout used her "senior card" and stayed laying on her back on the couch. Yep, it has been a good day.
What Is Happening In Our Kitchen This Week
Mama sometimes mentions what new gizmo she has bought or the new recipes she has tried, so maybe I will try to include that once a week. I don't know. Our blog pretty much flies by the seat of its' pants as they say. We will give it a try and see what happens.
Mama uses an electric skillet daily. She seems to have to replace them about twice a year. The non-stick stops working and they start not to heat evenly. She decided to try a different type of skillet this time since she doesn't think she should have to replace them so often. She is hoping that this one lasts longer.
The is the Presto Foldaway skillet. Why is it different? Well the cooking area is made of ceramic. It is non-stick. It is heavier than the other skillets she has bought and seems to be made well. The main selling point of this skillet is that it comes apart for storage. Mama didn't care about that though. She liked the ceramic cooking surface.
Mama really likes the way the skillet heats and so far nothing is sticking. The skillet has a pour spout that can be used to hold a spoon with the lid still on. Mama isn't really thrilled with having to take the base off to wash the skillet, but it isn't hard to do.
She purchased it at Target.
The next thing that has Mama excited is that she finally found egg rings at a reasonable price...$3.99 for two. She kept seeing them for $15 and she said she was not paying that much. She found them at Bed, Bath and Beyond, if you are interested.

This is the reason. She likes to make sausage, egg and cheese muffin sandwiches and she was aggravated with her eggs not being round. Yes, she really has very few problems. BOL!

Contentment
A lady saw me lounging outside and said "that is pure contentment". What do you think?
Have you tried these?
The folks really like them. When Dad is away, Mama divides the mix into thirds and just fixes a portion when she wants it. We haven't been allowed to try them, but they smell good. Mama used to make her own but she said the seasoning for the butter is what makes them really special.

Scout Prefers A Naked Head
Why is Scout wearing a hat? Mama thinks the sun hurts her eyes. The vet said her eyes are fine.
Why is it a Smurf hat? Because it was on clearance. BOL!
Does Scout like it? Nope, she rolled in the dirt with it. She was hoping to hit a pile of doggy doo doo, but she missed.

Toys R Us Is Not Just For Kids
About a week ago, "Aunt Lisa" bought her greyhounds a Toys R Us educational toy designed for dogs. Mama had seen it at Petsmart but didn't think we would like it. We have been quite bored though, so Mama decided to give it a try.

The 45 mph Couch Potato
We were recently contacted and asked if we would like to do a book review. Mama said the book is written by a retired racer like me. I thought it sounded like fun, so I said "SURE". The book arrived yesterday and it is autographed by Aggie herself!
The book is called The 45 mph Couch Potato and it is written by Aggie (Bohemian Agile) and her Mom, Leslie Balcerak.
We were told the book was geared towards children, but Mama enjoyed it as much as we did. Aggie talks about what her life was like when she was a puppy, a racer and then a pet. I really enjoyed when she explained what it was like when she arrived in her new home with her parents. Boy, that brought back a lot of memories for me. I came straight from a kennel too and living in a home is so different from a kennel.
Aggie does a very good job explaining how greyhounds are different from other dogs with her stories. There are lessons about bullying, not swimming alone, being polite and making new friends among others. The lessons are written so well into the story that you really don't realize they are lessons....very smart, Aggie.
The illustrations by Rosemary Orbegoso are great!
We really enjoyed the book. Mama calls it a "fun read". We read it in one evening and we didn't put it down until we finished it.
If you are interested in ordering a copy for yourself, you can visit Aggie at her website, The 45 mph Couch Potato. The book is also available through Amazon as well as Barnes and Noble.
On a sad note....Aggie was attacked by an unleashed dog on December 26th. She received more than 40 stitches and is at home recovering. This is the second time she has been attacked. If you would like to send her a get well wish, her email is the45mphcouchpotato@gmail.com
