My First Meet & Greet

I am home from my first Meet and Greet!  It was fun!  Mama was nervous that I might do something wrong, but I don't think I did.  We had lots of rain this morning and Mama said we might need to go late because she didn't want to try and get me in the store if it was pouring down rain.  We watched the radar and we had a break in the rain, so we took off.  We told Scout I was going to see the vet and she needed to stay home. She was not happy, but she had a Frosty Treat to help her feel better.

I have never been in a store except if you count seeing Santa.  I don't count that because it wasn't a big store like the store I went to today.  Now I know where Mama buys our treats and food. The smells were wonderful.

There was just me and a cute little girl who is up for adoption.  She only weighs 55 pounds.  Can you imagine?  She was really playful.  She wanted me to play, but I was trying to be on my best behavior.  A family came by today who is interested in adopting her.  We hope they do because it looks like a really good match.  She would have three kids to play with and they seemed to like her.  She watched them as they walked out the store, so I think she liked them, too.

I walked around the store a little bit and Miss Lisa worked with me on the proper way to walk on a leash.  She said I was smart.  Mama said "Really?"   Sheesh, Mom!  It's not like I haven't learned things while living here.  I don't know tricks, but I'm well-behaved.  I whine, but that's because you are not following my routine. Miss Jane reminded Mama that all I have known is going to the vet and haven't really gotten out that much. I came here from the farm.  That's so true, there is a whole world out there that I have not experienced.  I'm off of restrictions now, so watch out world, Joey E is out and about.

Here I am at the meet and greet.

The toys are not new toys from the store. (Didn't want you to think we were playing with store toys.)  We donated them to the foster dogs in our group and the foster girl who was there was deciding which one she wanted.  I was supposed to buy a new toy for Scout, but I forgot all about it until now.

Scout was so happy to see us.  She sniffed me and asked me where I had been.  I told her that I saw a girl greyhound that was not big-boned like her.  She was not impressed.

I really liked the meet and greet. Everyone was so nice to me.  Mama said that we will be doing those whenever we are in town, so that's exciting.

I'm tired now though.  I think I will sleep good tonight.
Scout is tired, too, but I don't know why.  It makes me wonder what she was doing while we were gone.

It's My First Restriction-Free Day!!!!

It's finally here!  I am restriction-free. We do not know why my name is messed up on the banner.  Mama is still going to limit my running.  She says I need to work into it.   I can now ride in the Jeep since I can get in and out on my own. I'm not sure if we are going anywhere today.  It's a rainy day.  Blah!

Remember this?  Poor me!

Thank goodness that is over with. I now look like this:

I'm more mature looking now, don't you think?   Mama says looks can be deceiving.

Daddy Says "Pack Your Bags!"

We found out last night where we are going after our vacation and trip to Marco Island and it's not coming home.  We are going to be traveling until at least the middle of June!  We don't know what will happen after that, but hopefully our HUGE adventure will continue.  Mama was really surprised that they told us a month out where we are going, but she is very happy about it.  We are not going to spill the beans just yet where we are headed.  We will give you clues when it gets closer.

Daddy is hoping to catch a flight home two weeks from today.  TWO MORE WEEKS!!!  He will be home for two days and then we will start our adventure.  We will stay in Alabama for a few days and explore some of their state parks and then on to Marco Island and after that, well, you just have to stay tuned.

Routines Are Important

I am a hound that likes a routine.  Mama just needs to remember that and things will go much smoother.  I've really been a good boy while Dad has been gone, but last night Mama changed our routine.   She decided instead of taking us for a walk that she would let me explore the backyard.  I had a lot of  fun doing that, but I wanted my walk, too.  I whined the entire time that Mama was on the phone with Dad.  Finally, she gave in and took us for a walk.  It was dark by then, but I didn't care.  I took my walk and I was happy.  I then went to bed.  See, just give me what I want and I'm a happy boy.

This morning, Mama painted the porch.  She has been dreading doing it because she is really not experienced with painting.  I supervised her from inside the house and I think she did just fine.  She said it wasn't that bad and I guess that's good because she will have to do it again next year.  Our porch isn't covered, so the paint comes off easier than other porches.  Mama thinks we should replace it with the boards that never have to be painted.
Do you see the flag in the background?  It's a flag of me!  Well, not quite because the dog on the flag has brindle patches on both eyes and I only have a patch on one eye. It's pretty close to me though.

The countdown clock is ticking down on my end of restrictions!  Five weeks ago today I had my surgery, so probably today is really my restriction free day, but when I saw the doctor he said it was three weeks from that day, so we are going with Friday.

Saturday, I am going to my very first Meet and Greet.  Scout has to stay home because Mama thinks it will be easier just taking me since it's my first time and I'm still learning to walk properly on a leash even with my harness.  I am going to see people from our greyhound group that made sure I received all the medical care I needed, so I am excited to show them how well I am doing.

Happy Easter

We are having a fun day with Mama. We went on a nice walk this morning. I wore my new harness. I walked almost perfectly. It has a leash with two hooks, so Mama hooks one end to the harness and the other end is hooked to my collar.  It seems to work for us that way.  Mama was using two leashes, but that was harder to do.  She feels that having the second hook on my collar is safer in case the harness malfunctions.
After our walk, we had breakfast and then we started cleaning the house.  Scout went to bed while we cleaned.  I like helping supervise the vacuuming and the sweeping. We also did some laundry.  Mama used the Dremel on Scout's nails, but just used a file on my nails. I won't let her come near me with that Dremel.  Mama then started scraping off the loose paint to prepare the porch for its' new paint.  She swept it and then hosed it down, but there are things flying off the maple tree and landing on it.  She hadn't plan on painting it today anyway, but it definitely wouldn't be a good day for painting.

Scout wanted me to post this photo of her. She said she looks like a model.  WHATEVER!  LOL  This is how she posed while Mama was doing her nails.

Mama took this photo of us last night.  Look, our feet are touching.  Mama says it looks like we are plotting against her.

Have you ever had a Peep? We were reading on Greytalk that a lot of hounds like them.  Mama said she might pick us up some tomorrow when they are on clearance. I guess they are not in our budget any other way.  LOL

One year ago today, Mama said that they moved into this house.  She said the year has gone fast. Jack has been gone for almost 10 months and I've been here for 9 months.  It's hard to remember my life before living here.

Three More Weeks

Yep, it's three more weeks until Dad comes home. It's one more week until I am off of restrictions. I have a feeling that I'm still not going to be allowed to run though.  Mama is nervous about it. I will probably have to work my way up to chasing bunnies.

My New Freedom Harness is here.  We have pictures of it, but they are on Mama's new phone and she doesn't know how to put them on the computer yet. Mama is very happy with how I am walking with it. She says I'm 95% better. However, I'm still not good enough to allow Scout to walk with us. Scout and I together equal trouble.

This morning, we walked down this road that I love to walk down, but I'm only allowed to do so if I am wearing my harness.  It's downhill and I can really take Mama for good pulling if I am wearing my regular collar.  This morning, we saw goats and horses.  The horses were very interested in me. They ran up to the fence which made Mama very nervous.  She didn't know what they were going to do.  I wanted to get to them as much as they wanted to get to me. Mama took pictures, but they are on the phone, so you just have to imagine it.

Mama left the house on Wednesday with very straight, limp hair and came back with curly hair. How did that happen?   Nope, no pictures of the hair.

Not much has been going on. It's been cool enough to leave the front door open, so I lay in front of it and watch the traffic.  I was surprised when the neighbors chicken appeared in our driveway the other day.

Here are a few pictures that we took tonight. See Scout is HUGE compared to me. BOL

My leg is looking good. The hair is growing back and my scar doesn't look bad.

Sorry our post is so boring tonight.  I wanted to catch a lizard and talk about that, but Mama wouldn't let me.  She really needs to let me do more so that I have something to write about.
