It's Not Cancer!
Joey does not have cancer. He does have a chronic injury though. He has to have ice packs three times a day, walking for potty only, two medications and he needs to stay quiet. The last one is going to be the hardest for him. He may have to go undergo more tests and other treatments. We are not sure just yet. We are just happy it's not cancer.
He is resting with an ice pack now.

Home Again - Part 3
Well, we just realized that we didn't finish telling you about the rest of our trip home. I don't know if we even remember the res...
Yea! I'm so glad you were able to find out what it was fast. I know I hate the waiting. Did they say if the old injury was a broken bone or a muscle/tendon injury? Maybe he could have a frosty treat while it's iced.
ReplyDeleteHe had a broken hock. He may have arthritis now. There are a still many unknowns. Poor guy, he's only 3.5 years old. I hope he will be able to run and play in a few weeks.
ReplyDeleteWhew!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it just awful the way we greyhound peoples are so nervous over limping. I am always worried it is osteosarcoma just because of the breed. :(
But this is GREYT news! So glad to hear!!! :) I hope he gets passed this soon and will soon be able to romp around free and easy..no pain.
So it is a grand birthday celebration after all!! YEA!
YaY!! Dis is very good news fur sure!
ReplyDeleteWoofs and Licks,
Maggie Mae
Good news, indeed, even if he does still have to take it easy and have more potential treatments in the future. :) Cancer has got to be one of the most dreaded words of all time, human or animal, and it always feels like huge relief to find out that it is NOT.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad it's not the dreaded C! Blueberry is not a fan of resting, either. Those two months in that splint were LONG ones! I recommend finding a few puzzle toys if you can. It helps a little!
ReplyDeleteOh Crap! I had to go back and read earlier posts, I don't know how I missed all this. I am SO glad it isn't cancer. That darn "C" word takes too many of our precious greys away from us too early. Sending white light your way!
ReplyDeleteSo glad it's not the evil cancer. Nothing scares me mopre than the posibility of cancer. MyMontie
ReplyDeleteWe're sorry it's a chronic injury, but are also so glad it's not more serious. We are purring that it heals enough so that he can play.

PS - Mom says thank you to your Mom for the frozen treat recipe - she's been making it for our visitor because he won't eat anything but our food and those.
PPS - happy birthday to your Daddy. We hope he had a super birthday - of course with the two of you, how could it be anything but?

Patty, thank God! When I was walking Wanda this morning I was thinking about you and Joey and Scout and hoping all was well. I know this is not a perfect result but at least it is an injury and not a disease. He is one lucky guy to have the three of you to take care of him - imagine if he didn't! Happy Birthday, also, to Scout and Joey's dad. Take care. Mary H.
ReplyDeleteYay!! Hopefully he just needs some proper recuperation to recover from his broken hock so he can get to running around and being lazy like a proper greyhound.
